  1. Watering lawns is wasteful of water but many parts of the U.S. have plenty of it. I see no reason for having national restrictions until we have a nation-wide drought. something that is not likely to happen.

Water that lands in the storm (or sanitary) sewwer is not necessarily wasted, though. During a drought, I once compared the amount of effluent from wastewater treatment plants with the recorded flow from the streams they emptied into. The WWTPs were providing almost all of the water in the streams. And since we were drawing drinking water from those same streams below the WWTPs ....

  2. It's a shame for Them to have to get involved in more "telling people what to do", but people are so ignorant and wasteful, sometimes they need regulations to get them to be sensible.

A big shame, Big Brother is getting more and more involved in our lives, yet in part we deserve it.

My answer to your question is No.  I think educating people should be tried first.  In England there was a big push oh, 20 years ago perhaps, to get people to stop wasting water.  I'm sure that kind of approach is a good idea.  Some people just don't consider the consequences of their actions and need to have it pointed out.

  3. i agree with the previous answer public service campaings have done wonders to bring light to issues that lack public awareness. 5 years ago i told my boyfriend about coming water shortages and lack of clean water he laughed at me, now its a mainstream news story once a week. hes forgotten the previous conversation

  4. It's a shame to see Americans wasting our valuable resources.  For example, I went to a restaurant for lunch today, and a busboy was wiping down a table.  The bucket of soapy water was 3/4 full, and he went back and dumped it all out after he was done wiping.  I asked him "why?" and he said that there was no place in the kitchen to put a full bucket of water and that they had to put it back in the storage closet w/out water in it when it was not in use.  Scary.

  5. This is a regional or community problem. Some, if not most areas do not need to.

The primary reason for water shortage and most pollution is population increase. Why not discuss the root cause instead of the resulting problem.

Florida - Too many people for the ecology

    Atlanta - same

South. California - same (Duh, Its the desert)

    ETC, ETC, ETC, ETC.

But we just keep on growing. WHY?

  6. yeah because people be wasting alot of water on dumb stuff
