I think so! That should help hold down heating and AC costs for those on fixed incomes (Seniors) (The Ones the Democrats hate)

  1. I don't believe in Communism.  Power companies are a natural monopoly and thus not be given mandates or any special favors.  If you were truly a Republican you'd know better.

  2. I think its a great idea although I think the government needs to stay out of as much as possible.

But on second though although I am disgusted with the parnoia about Chernobyl Chernobyl, Three mile island panic.

As good as capitalism is I have little faith that the right decisions would be made during construction due to "cost benefit analysis"  and could actually lead to a big disaster.

If we could circumvent this one caveat then these plants would be a great step toward energy independance.

  3. Do u really WANT another Chernobyl?  This time with 5 of them exploding in each state.  Don't be ridiculous it's not worth the risk, nuclear energy is NOT safe!  I wouldn't want one by me!  We'll all have 4 arms in 100 years!

  4. No, this would bankrupt a lot of people.  It takes a minimum of 20 years for a nuclear power plant to go from permit application to operation, and the cost in terms of energy required to build it exceeds the amount of electricity it will generate over its useful life.  This is the reason why there have been no new permits applications for nuclear power palnts in the US for over 25 years; it's not an economically viable venture.  Only recently was a new permit application made, but the feasibility of these things is just about zero. You never get the energy out of them what was put into them during construction and operation.

One thing no one ever takes into account when discussing these things is the ENORMOUS expense in money and energy required to make the fuel rods for the reactors.  Add this into the equation and the value of the enterprise plummets to the point where a coal-fired plant looks like a real bonanza by comparison.

  5. Do you know that Uranium is not an unlimited resource?

    Look it up.
