Should the US stop playing football?

We are losing talent to a sport that has no future outside of this country. Even in Canada (the only other country that plays this sport) they get paid a pittance. We should focus our talent on olympic sports.

Um, since when should America care what sport we play has a future over seas? Guess what. I lived in Mexico for 2 years on a mission and yes they play american football down there. They suck at it, but they play. Besides, obviously you haven't been paying attention to the nfl the past couple years, when they've started having regular season games over seas. AND THEY SELL OUT!

How would you propose to implement a solution?  

Look, you could also say we waste "talent" for football by letting people who are genetically disposed to being 300 pounds of muscle play something else instead, whether it be baseball, basketball, or piano.

It's not up to you and me.  We either watch or we don't.  Let those who want to play football play football.

Freedom can be pretty chaotic until you get used to it. You just have to adjust to people doing things you'd rather they didn't do, such as having a good time.

Football is the biggest sport in this country, people aren't just going to stop playing.

We are already the most dominant country in the olympics if you go by medal count.  Sure we don't dominate handball, Kayaking, or badminton, but i really don't think most people care about those sports. We really don't need to drop football to improve our level of competition in the Olympics.

I agree that many football players could make excellent soccer players, or basketball players, or track stars. I'm a huge soccer fan myself and i've wondered how much better our national team could be if our best athletes chose to play soccer instead of other sports.  But they want to play football and that's fine.

It really doesn't matter if no one else in the world plays football.  We enjoy it and that's all that matters.

Let's think honestly about that kind of idea.

Its terrible!

Imagine if you took all the roided-up 250 pound freaks (and that's just the Saints tight ends) and took them away from football, which is a "14 month long season in a leap year" according to Braylon Edwards, and told them that every four years, and only every four years, they could play water polo or they could dance on a mat or something.  They'd go nuts!  

We've all seen how much trouble these guys get in, and that's working around their busy schedules.  Imagine if they had all that power and strength (and apparently stupidity), and then had nothing constructive to do until the next series of Games.  At worst, they'd no longer be in shape, and would have no talent to give to the Games.

Plus, most of these guys love doing what they do.  You do what you love, and forget the rest.

hahah two of my friends play soccer and when i play soccer wit them i always end up running someone over or just tackling them lol its a friendly  game just for fun     now make a team of players like that lol  all the players would get kicked out of the game lol
