  1. Yes, I do.  The earlier answers were obviously written by young and healthy people who think they are immortal.  I have decent health insurance, but a visit to the emergency room still ended up costing me over $1,200 out-of-pocket.  I would be willing to pay higher taxes just so long as our non-functional health system is reformed.  I am not one of these "scum balls" mentioned, but I still cannot afford health care, even with insurance.  Something needs to be done and sooner rather than later.

For all who decry socialized medicine: it has worked great in the military and will continue doing so.  We already have practice at it.

  2. No.  Profit is the reason why our healthcare is the greatest in the world.  Why develop drugs?  So we can make money off of them.  Why go to medical school?  So we can make money off of patients.  If there was no profit incentive, why would drug companies invest in developing new drugs?  They wouldn't.  So, it is profit that causes the drugs and treatments that people cannot afford to be available in the first place.

I have no problem with assistance for those who are truly in need but that is the vast minority.

  3. No. Can you imagine the amount of money we have to pay on taxes just to cover health care.

  4. I can not afford to pay anymore taxes to support the low-life scum balls that don't have enough ambition to get off of the public dollar.

  5. well you would have to consider that if they do that here... we will all be paying more taxes... and we all know thats just going to cause alot more problems.....

  6. Sure if you are willing to pay the taxes for that.

  7. No,  but something needs to be done to make it better! It's BS that an illegal immigrant can come over here and get all these government benefits (just for coming here!), but hard working, born and raised in this country AMERICANS, can't see a doctor or get medication at all because they can't afford insurance. h**l, I'm 20 years old, been on my own since I was 16. I've had a full-time job for a little over a year, (worked different part-time before) and had no insurance until now.  I also have ovarian cysts that burst much more than normally- and for over a year had to deal with the excruciating pain when i SHOULD have went to the ER/ doctor- choses to avoid the 7 plus grand in bills that insurance, if I was ABLE to get it, would have paid for!

At one point, I was working at a grocery store as a cashier, taking home about 250 a week, and applied for government aid.

But, ha, I was denied because: 1) made too much money

    2) wasn't pregnant 3) didn't already have 8 kids 4) been in the country for more than x-amount of years 5) didn't live with 20 other people that were dependent solely on my income!

    I just LOVE our government!!!

  8. Yes they should. That way everyone can get health care. Stop believing it doesn't work, that kind of propaganda is what you are supposed to hear. The drug companies love it and so do the Senators who take their lobbiest bribes.

  9. No.

Every time socialized health care (call it what it is - when everyone is taxed to fund a program that applies to everyone, that is socialism) has been implemented, it has failed.

Cuba. Failed. Ask anyone born in Cuba what the clinics the unwashed masses use are like.

Canada. Failed. Granted, it took 40 years with a population of only 30,000,000. But it failed.

Britain. Failed. Their NHS is a joke, unless you like waiting months to see a doctor.

Europe. Failed. Most of their citizens come here to our nation for their health care, since it's better and much faster - al biet more expensive.

People love to point out how the United States is the last "First World" (IE industrialized) nation without a government-funded socialist health care system. But they neglect to mention how all the nations with a government-funded socialist health care system are becoming more and more privatized as their citizens demand better and faster care.

Maybe we were just the only "First World" nation that realized socialized health care was bad and we wanted the best for our citizens.

[To jeligula] It worked great in the military?! HA! Because the government health care is the ONLY choice while you're in (unless you have your own insurance to pay for out of pocket because the government doesn't offer private insurance while you're in). And if you ever served, you'd know what the VA hospitals are like when you did your separation physicals there. If you've ever been to a VA hospital, you'd know why going there is any veteran's LAST CHOICE.

You think socialized health care is great? How would you like to be told "yeah...we can't send you to see <insert speciality here> for another three months." when you're in pain NOW and need something done. Because that is what it is like in that nations that have socialized health care - and that is why many of their citizens come HERE. Because we don't have months-long waiting lists to see a doctor. Because our hospitals (due to competition with other hospitals) strive to have the best equipment and the best doctors - so they can have repeat customers.

  10. Yes, but I doubt we will ever see it.

Even third world countries give all of their citizens health care.

  11. Yes, but after that the government needs to wash their hands of it.  So if someone didn't do their homework. and find out its a raw deal.  Tough titties.  I am so sick of the government bailing people out for poor decision making.  They did it with housing foreclosures and it would happen again if Universal Healthcare was offered

  12. No.

  13. NO for the following reasons.

    1. It would be wasteful and inefficient like EVERY OTHER government established and managed program.

    2. No where in the Constitution does it authorize the Government to establish such a program.

    3. Quality of health care will dramatically decrease for the majority of Americans. Most of the good doctors in this country already refuse to accept patients on medicare, same will happen with any other Government program.

    4. Taxes will HAVE to be raised in order to pay for such a boon doggle and most of us already pay much more than our "fair share" in taxes.

    5. The absolute fastest way to ruin ANYTHING in this country is to get the Government involved in it.

  14. no.  it would eventually colapse.  because like social security more people will be taking from it than giving into it.  some of the population doesnt pay taxes and we also have over 12 million illegal aliens.

  15. Affordable healthcare.

    Yes

  16. no

  17. It has already offer it that is what is parading on old media America Dream. A flagship of Civilize health care. Who ever disturb global peace we will hunt him or her down > enough with foolishness that is parading fear and infectious diseases. Rather certain communities of greed has left fragile of Awareness which constitute what states should produce to flagship citizens health care.

  18. Nope.

  19. I do not believe that you do not want Doctors who were at the top of their classes to operate on you.

Or you want a government employee who makes $50k a year and couldn't hack it as a contractor or an engineer.

  20. Not if the government is going to run it.

  21. YES ! AS LONG AS ITS THE SAME HEALTH CARE THAT THE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS AND THE SENATE GET

  22. no id rather just bend over and take it from inssurance and pharmaceutical companies for as long as possible if thats alright

  23. Yes -- that said, it has to be done with proper and careful administration.  It has NOT failed in Canada, the UK, or any of the Scandinavian countries, nor France.

Our system as it is is totally shameful, and the statistics prove it, with unnecessary deaths through our massive numbers of uninsured.

I am not saying it would be easy, but I believe one reason our quality of life in the US has degraded is that our health care system as a whole is so poor.  It needs a total overhaul, and if I knew just how to do that, without being ruined by scam artists and greedy folk, I would put it forth.
