Should the WCE give back 1/2 the club membership fee to its Members?

Its obveious this team is TANKING with 1/2 a season to go WCE supporters should fell ripped off and let down

Supporters of clubs work hard for the money

Why should WCE refund 1/2 their club membership fee??? Most Victorian teams were languishing at or near the bottom of the ladder for the best part of this decade and now it's a couple of the interstate teams turn now!!! Every team has highs and lows, it's impossible for any team to have continued success forever. Just look at Brisbane from a few years ago. Port went through success along with WCE. That's the problem with footy today, clubs spend years building up a team towards a premiership but once one or two players chase the extra $$$ at other clubs, success can come crashing down... as is happening to WCE.

No I don't think they should they are trying  but they just don't have the cattle at the moment give them time all clubs go thru this a some stage there older players are out of form or carrying injuries I.E cox,Kerr,Embley,Glass,Seaby, everyone is 2 fast 2 knock them or bag them just give them a few years they will come fine

its obvious you are not a true supporter , if you where you would not have used the word TANKING in the same sentance as WCE . yes some of the team is down on form, we have lost our midfield players bar one in kerr. so get behind them and stop putting down , get behind the young guys

There not tanking they are just no good. and if they are they have been doing it since the start of the year. look at there record.

I am a west coast eagles member and no i dont think we should get 1/2 of our money back.

We are members because we stand by the west coast eagles 100% even when they are having a bad season, all clubs go through this at one stage or another.

If people do think they should get 1/2 there money back then they shouldnt be members and shouldnt support the eagles. selective supporters are not true supporters.

and please people get over the whole tanking idea, think what you like but its not the case and when you have proof of this,please do show me and no i wont accept that they have had a bad season.

i am confident the eagles will come back bigger and better in the next couple of year......GO THE EAGLES!!

If every team that performed poorly at some stage did that, there wouldn't be many memberships left in the AFL.

West Coast aren't tanking, tanking is when you try to lose games that are winnable. Losing by 100+ points is just not being able to play well.

Why are the eagles obviously tanking? is it because they are playing young players and dropping players like braun and fletcher?? Chad fletcher is one of the worst players in the afl, he cant hit a target from 15m away, gets all his kicks in the back line and only goes backwards.

They were hit hard by injuries that forced them to play these young players, losing alot of players that have played 50-100 games. Guys like Hurn, Hunter, Rosa, Hansen. Kerr has been injured and suspended and Dean Cox has played the whole first half of the season with a broken foot. If they were tanking I think they would rest him wouldn't you think.

They have a lot of young no name players  can't expect too much from them and they are trying as hard as they can, it's not obvious they are tanking, geelong are just to good

Not sure why the Eagles make you so bitter X Man!! (although, it is quite touching that you are so deeply concerned about the Eagles and their members. Warms my heart really that you cdare.........)

Even though I am not a fully paid member of the West Coast Eagles, (i am waiting in the Wings) There is no way I would expect them to give me any money back. When they get back to the top, will they ask us for more money?? I think not. We understand that this is a bad time (we have had them before you knhow, as have Collingwood) and we will be back at our best in a season or so. We have many injuries, some of our veterans are not performing well (Fletcher, Braun, Embly to name a couple) and our new guys are just not quite there. We have also lost our two Brownlow winners.

WE ARE NOT TANKING, Tanking implies a capability of winning games, and we are quite obviously not capable at the minute. (Noone tanks by 20 goals.....)

im a eagles "in the wings member " (waiting list) and no i dont think they should get their money back, their lucky to be to have a membership, 15 000 of us are waiting to have that!!

i dont feel let down at all, 6 finals in a row im proud of the boys!!  people seem to forget about all our sucsses when its the first year we've been in the bottom eight in 6 years!!

X-Man - you claim to be a footy supporter, but all you seem to want to do is attack the Eagles.   Why not suggest Melbourne give their members half their money back?  They've won even less games than WCE.   But fair enough, it appears to make you happy.  

The simple fact is that from an economics perspective, tanking doesn't work.  You lose lots of games, supporters stop coming.  Supporters stop coming, your team loses money.  Your team is no longer profitable, you get sent out-of-state.  

Getting a couple of higher placed rookies does not guarantee the necessary success in the future to make it a worthwhile venture - which is why I am surprised that someone with the footballing brain that Aker has could actually suggest it.  

I'm more surprised that the AFL doesn't tickle Aker's collar for bringing the game into disrepute with more of his unproven, inaccurate and scurrilous accusations.  You'd think he'd have learned by now, but clearly making mischief is more fun, eh X-Man?
