  1. We probably should considering the atrocities that are taking place over there.  However, we won't.  There is nothing there that the greedy b******s running the country would want.  You know, like OIL.

  2. Anyone who would answer yes, has no business to be critical to the war in Iraq... personally I think that history proves that our country heeds to the words of its first president and stay out of foreign affairs as much as possible.

  3. We have enough problems (direct US involvement)........if the UN wants to involve itself that fine by me, although I don't think they are very effective doing anything.

  4. The West, as a collective should definitely involve itself, with things other than embargo. I think that see the beginnings of another (yet) Idi Amin, or Pol Pot. Why do countries (including the UN (?)) always seem to sit on their hands, until the outcome is one of mass murder or genocide? (unless there is oil in the region)

The surrounding South African countries collectively, should be distancing themselves from Mugabe, but South Africa has apparently refused to acknowledge that Mugabe is someone who should not be the leader of the country. As for Angola (who recognise Mugabe as the country's legitimate leader), with their history and lack of constitutional law, well they seem at face value to be the same person, but with a different name.

  5. Iraq was a big mistake, and I can't see why would we want to repeat it. What we should be doing with Zimbabwe is having a word with the other African countries, who are privately getting sick of the basket case on their door costing them time and energy (and having to cope with people fleeing it).

This ultimately is an African problem, and it requires an African solution, with part of the problem being that many other countries are enabling Mugabe.

Also, much of Africa are on good terms with America ATM, one of the only places Bush is well liked is Africa because he massively increase US Aid there, so we should be cashing in on that good relationship. We should be convincing them and helping them to take deal with the Mugabe problem.

So, we should be intervening behind the scenes through diplomacy, not with force. If any force needs to be applied, it should be by African nations, perhaps with some support from the West, but mainly Europe, it was after all, Australia and the UK that put him Mugabe there.
