  1. Definitely.  Not only would it be great to not have to share the Big Ten title, but it would help whoever wins gain credibility on the national stage because their strength of schedule will necessarily be better than if they hadn't played that extra game.  The time between the last game of the season and the NC then, would also be reduced which would be a universally good thing I think.

If only those wimps at Notre Dame would get off their high horse and join the Big Ten.  Then we'd have 12 teams and the perfect set-up for a Big Ten championship game, just like the Big 12.

  2. I think they definately should.  It would improve the credibility of the conference, and it would also help the winner of the championship game for their BCS or National Championship game.  It extends their season an extra week or two, which gives them more time to prepare for their bowl games.  I still think Ohio State would have beaten Florida if they would have had another game after the Michigan game.  That layoff was just too long, and a conference championship game would negate that.

  3. Yes, to help our conference.

  4. Yes, but first there must be a 12th team added, then the conference would have to split in two. Maybe a east and west with 6 teams in each that would all play each other. Add 3 games to play opposite division teams. Then the winner would play in the championship game, and the conference would make more money off the game and it would be more exciting. However, it would make it more difficult for teams like Ohio State to skate into the championship, and it would also penalize the loser of the Championship game when it comes to their bowl game. In 2005 LSU lost the championship game and despite a 10-2 record were knocked down to the peach bowl. Last year Mizzou lost the Big 12 Championship game and got snubed by the BCS.

  5. Yes ,and then maybe just maybe Ohio State will quit getting a free pass to the championsip game.

  6. I don't like conference championship games, myself, but I think the Big Ten(11) has too many teams for full round-robin conference play like the Pac-10 (where everybody plays everybody).  If there's gonna be a championship game, I think it should only happen if there's a tie for conference champion.  This would be possible because Big Ten teams only play 8 conference games, while a round-robin would have them play 10 conference games.  This year, Ohio State, for example, does NOT play Indiana or Iowa, which means that it is THEORETICALLY possible for Ohio State and Indiana/Iowa to have identical records at the end of the season.  If this is the case, then there should be a championship game to decide the conference champion.  Maybe have this conditional championship game on the last game day of the regular season.

  7. Just go back to the Rose Bowl being the #1 Big 10 vs. #1 Pac 10 team and I'm happy!

  8. Yes.

During that week you either have 1) teams from other conferences solidifying their claim to the championship or 2) Upsets that muddy the picture.   The Big 10 doesn't get into any of that.  Plus, think of the money they would raise with a neutral site game.

  9. I think it should because of the way they have it formatted now. They all dont play each other so its hard to say. If UofM and Wisc go 10-2 this season without ever playing each other, how do we determine which team is better? I just think it would be easier to decide who the best team if we have the top 2 square off.
