Oil there is so plentiful it seeps out of the ground. American companies with ties to the Bush /Cheney administration are being sold cheap leases to benefit only the Kurds.

  1. Try asking the Kurds what they think about that.

  2. All benefits from the sale of oil anywhere in Iraq is required to be shared with all of Iraq. This is in their constitution. They are either violating the laws of the only country protecting them from the Turks (unlikely) or ABC is lieing to you. Pshaw, of course ABC is lieing.

If you saw it on the old fashioned major media, you can assume they weren't telling the whole truth.

  3. Since Kurdistan is an autonomous region, it seems fitting that Kurdistan stands to benefit from their oil sources, but it is apparently not the only region to benefit.

After reading a website from the region, it appears that the Kurdistan Regional Government's independent report into oil sharing arrangements suggest that the current arrangements are more beneficial, than those proposed by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. It suggests that Iraq stands to lose out substantially, if their model is adopted.

Unfortunately, I didn't see the ABC Four Corners report and don't have access to video, but below is the link which states that Iraq on the face of it, is benefitting.

  4. Our country has given all to help the people of Araq obtain freedom. It would be more appropriate for some of that oil to benefit us here at home. We are going bankrupt.
