  1. Be careful with your assumsions. We are talking here of the worlds best Aircraft maker and the worlds best Airline.Let alone top safet precautions at Heathrow.Boeing would never allow any of their planes to fly with the least safety problem. The investigators would have missed their eggs today being on their way to Heathrow.from Seattle.Passionate of course I am and will only fly Boeing and BA.

  2. Are you serious? B777 - one of the best and most trusted passenger jets ever to fly!

  3. No they shouldnt be. No one got killed and theres only speculation on what caused it. If there was another accident like this then theres a chance it could be grounded. But if all 777s got grounded a huge chunk of flights would get cancelled.

  4. They are airworthy or the airlines would not be flying them, there is nothing wrong with the triple7. Your focus should be in the left seat.......

  5. A 777 has yet to crash after flying for almost fourteen years.

I guess I didn't read the news today.

  6. Can't recall ever hearing on an Airbus fleet grounding, even when the chief test pilot of the A320 program plowed one into a forest at an airshow, when airline pilots getting a demo in an A340 crashed it, when the fin broke off the A300 in New York etc.  Nor were 747s grounded after TWA 800, MD-11s after Sioux City, or 767s after crazy people splashed one into the Indian Ocean, etc etc etc.

All these airplanes are safe.  777 and the newer Airbuses in particular- recent designs, exhaustively tested to the latest safety rules, excellent service history.

  7. One incident doesn't mean that the entire built range of 777's is faulty - there is a reason behind today's incident and I'm certain that the full facts will be made known. It is to the pilots credit that the only statistic was four with minor injuries.

  8. First we'll have to endure the Terrorist Gamma Ray Beam theories.

  9. I see one has landed short, and we don't know why as yet. I'd guess if there had been a mechanical problem they may well already have taken steps. Personally, from what I've heard, I'd be looking at the two in the front seats . . .

  10. No. The 777 is just as airworthy as it ever was. And Airbus hasn't ever had its fleet grounded either.

Maybe they ought to figure out how an experienced crew in a proven airplane managed to land short at their home airport and come up with recommendations based upon what is learned.

  11. Don't think they should be grounded until cause of incident is established.  Plane might not be faulty.  Something as simple as a large flock of birds can bring down a plane, although i should point out this is very unlikely with jet engines as they are tested to withstand bricks and large chunks of metal being thrown into them.  Boeing is one of the safest planes flying.

  12. The accident on first impressions, seems to have been caused by fuel starvation. Whether this was due to a catastrophic technical malfunction, pilot error or the aircraft simple ran out of fuel, is not known at this stage.

If the cause is traced to a technical failure, fleet checks will be called up on every 777 that is still flying.

  13. I was unaware one crashed. I heard about one landing short at one of those Brit airports, but unless theirs something to indicate that its the Jet and not the British pilot. I think they'll focus on the Pilot.

  14. Nope, no Airbus has ever been grounded, 737's have though. But until it has been proven that the cause of the crash was design fault, it won't be grounded because right now its looking like human error.

  15. Just because of 1 incident, (cause unknown), does not an unsafe aircraft make!

How many DC-10 s went down in the 70s and 80s?  Did they ever get grounded week after week?
