like limit our electricy use to 500kw per month, if we use more then we are fined

limit our gasoline purchace to 20 gallons a month, but we would need a government gas card to control our purchace, the gas pumps can be programed so the pump won't turn on if you used up your 20 gallon alotment per month, or if you didn't have a gas card, you couldn't buy any gasoline.

good idea?

  1. maybe or maybe not..wish u good luck:D

  2. Maybe if it is needed........

    Or innovate in something better.

    M.S

  3. I lived thru WW II with rationing-even food-everything we didn't have was not missed by anybody-except people who had lottsa stuff-before WW II eskimo's had only sugar coffee and tobacco-everyone traded something for tobacco.  Soon the world ecosystem may collapse so that people who have much will have little-but if it collapse's and you have a trustworthy gov't.  they will have to ration in order to keep it's citizen's fed clothed and sheltered-but it would be plenty.

  4. We should limit govermnment's energy abuse first.

  5. NO, the Gov should not limit our energy use.  Actually I already get a fine when I use over 500kw per month.  In fact I get fined for less..I get fined for all my energy use.  It's called a bill.  The more I use, the more I pay.

I had a long rant here about the gas...but I deleted it.  Suffice it to say, no to the 20 gal per month limit.

  6. If it comes down to that, I don't think the government should have an over-all ruling for everyone. A larger household should be allowed more electricity usage, whereas a single household should have less.

20 gallons surely isn't enough gas for a month, unless the government insists on everyone having a hybrid or more fuel-efficient car. Maybe the government should mandate a minimum mpg rating, and offer more payment options for those that cannot purchase a newer car that gets better gas than they are driving now. Maybe give a tax write-off for having an e-vehicle.

Also 20 gallons a month would desperately hurt the tourism industry, and gas prices would be astronomical, and economy would fail.

  7. FYI:  The USA burns about 140 billion gallons of gasoline per year.  Assuming 200 million drivers, that's about 700 gallons/driver/year or a little under 60 gallons/driver/month.

Also FYI:  You mean "kilowatt-hours", or kWh.

No, government should not be dictating limits.  Government should be encouraging and helping people to save energy, but not dictating limits.  For instance, government could tax gasoline up to $5/gallon and then give everyone enough money back to pay the tax on 50 gallons a month.  People who used more would pay more, people who used less would put the money in their pockets, and nobody gets TOLD to do anything... just encouraged.

  8. you know. governments tried that.....limit energy use, water use, what you could buy and where you could go......it was called communism......

didn't work too well as I recall. Except for the people telling others what they couldn't have. Those guys....see Kim El Jung, Fidel Castro, Chinese Politburo..did OK.

  9. They already have!

When Gas prices were a dollar a gallon, you went more, furthur away.

When Utilities were half of what they are now, you had it cooler or warmer in your home!

It takes energy in all aspects of living an average life.

Regulated prices, control your buying power.

I heard stories about the great depression. The Govt. issued stamps to buy gasoline & even at this, quanity was regulated.

What your asking is already HISTORY!

  10. Its a great idea but the population would not go for it. I thought of a similar idea that no one would go for, to make a maximum sized car of say 4 meters long and with a maximum of 900 cc, would save billions of gallons of fuel, free up space on the roads and be easier to park in the citys. do we really need to go to the mall in a hummer?

And here is another one that they would not go for. Not to pump drinking water to the house. If you want drinking water you either filter it yourself or buy it in bottles. Billions of gallons of drinking water are flushed down the toilet and let out of the bath every day. I am not suggesting that it is a waste of drinking water, I think it is a waste of energy to process it, pump it to the house and then to wash in it when for a fraction of the cost we could wash in water that is not suitable for drinking, I mean lets face it how often do you drink your own bath water...?

  11. The way the US government is run...absolutely NOT!

They'd just use it to get deeper into our pockets and never let go and give us nothing but hot air in return as usual!

The US has got to get creative again and quit waiting for someone else to do it for them...they need to hurt enough in the pocket book to get people serious about finding answers for themselves.

The mindset of America is waste...that needs to change dramatically.

The free lunch is over people, time to get serious.
