  1. No, as usual the federal government is overstepping its constitutional limits. This issue should be decided by each state and the federal government should stay out of it. I know it will never happen that way, but that's how it should be.

That being said, I would not support any change in the drinking age. I agree that 18 is too young. Not only are there the health problems associated with drinking before a person's body is fully developed, but it would increase drunk driving fatalities and other problems associated with alcohol. On the other side however, I think that if you raise it any higher, people will have even less respect for the law and they will be more likely to start drinking at younger ages.

  2. For all the retards who want to raise it. I think that then we should raise the age for military recruitment then. They must be 30 years old. At least then we wouldn't be able to go to bullshit wars anymore.

    Stupid conservative b******s.

  3. Yes or raise the voting age to 21 and the age at which you can enlist in the military to 21 as well.  This was an issue during Vietnam when the voting age was 21 - The cry was "I can die for my country, but I can't vote".

I think the vase majority of youth do have respect for the law already.

  4. I think the legal age to drink should be two years lower than the legal age to drive.

I don't care where either one is set, as long as people that want to drink have ample opportunity to understand how it effects them before they ever get a lesson in driving.

  5. I am on the fence. I'm leaning to no. I would possibly support the drinking age to be lowered to 15 with serious conditions and guidelines so that parents could teach their kids how to drink responsibly.

With 18 the drinking age then drunk driving accidents will increase and we will probably see even more alcoholics. The point being made is will it cut down on binge drinking among college students? So maybe college students who are 18 should be able to drink that live on campus? Would that be a possibility?

edit: Of course I know some parents that are completely irresponsible and still have not grown up.

  6. I dont think we need a "legal drinking age".

Its really a nonsence law in the first place simply used to give out tickets.

If a kid wants to drink at a young age, they will drink. If they cannot get a drink, they will pop pills, or inhale rubber cement fumes. If a kid wants to get intoxicated, that kid will find a way.

I drank when I was about 14 and it caused me to NOT drink all through high school. Except for that bit of wine my parents gave me on thanks giving.

Much of europe has no drinking age. Does this mean the kids go to school drunk every day?

Lets leave the parenting up to the parents.

  7. I sort of agree that the age should be raised to 30. Yet on the other hand I somehow think that it's not fair because if they are old enough to die for our country, then why can't they drink legally at 18? It's a touchy situation.

  8. I think that the drinking age should stay 21 or higher, because getting drunk and driving kills too many young people in this world.

  9. I think it should be raised to 30.  I haven't met a 21 year old yet who was responsible enough to drink.

    I wasn't either.

  10. It should have never been raised, when it was 18 I remember bellying up to the bar at 16.

  11. I'm with the guy that says it should be 30.

Life isn't always fair and the fact that they can't legally drink at 18 is too d**n bad.  There are a lot of things you can't do at 18.

  12. I think it should be 18.If you're responsible enough to go to Iraq or get married then you should also be able to drink at that age too.

  13. I honestly wouldn't care if they made drinking illegal.  It causes so many problems and deaths that I would have no problem foregoing the few drinks I have a week, if any.  Of course prohibition showed us how this wouldn't work, so I guess that means I'm against lowering it to 18.  Kids are dumb and do dumb things.  I know, I used to be a kid.  Any motivation to help kids to make better choices is a good thing.  The rebellious ones will just have to learn to suffer the consequences.

  14. How about raising it to 25? Even at 21, I see too many kids that think that having a good time is going out and getting drunk. This seems to start subsiding at about 25, and they start drinking more responsibly.

There is also the issue that at 18, although you can vote and join the military, and everything else, your body is still going through developmental changes, and alcohol can have a negative effect on it.
