Should the Medal of Freedom have been given to the likes of Henry Hyde, fer christ's sakes!

The Medal of Freedom was established by President Truman in 1945 to recognize civilians for their efforts during World War II. The award was reinstated by President Kennedy in 1963 to honor distinguished service.

It is given to those deemed to have made remarkable contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, culture, or other private or public endeavors.

- Henry Hyde. The Illinois Republican served for 32 years in the House, where he was known for his battles against abortion rights and his leading role in the impeachment of President Clinton. He was honored as a "powerful defender of life" and an advocate for strong national defense, the White House says.

  1. I think that guy is a complete jerk n that he should mind he's own business. My body, my right NOT his !!!! Do u actually think that if his daughter would got rape by some low life. Do u really think that he will c that kid as his legitimately grandchild?

Every1 has skeletons on their closets so, therefore NO medals 4 him. Now... Mother Theresa , that's a different story.

  2. Interesting that you bring up Hyde and his role impeaching Clinton..During the proceedings a bunch of his former and present girlfirends came forward and caused an embarassing stink...I know his wife was pretty upset.  Of course since he is Republican it is OK

Of course as far as a an advocate for strong national defense he was not happy about the big pay raised the soldiers got in the mid 90's.  He was pushing to spend the $ procuring new weapons systems.  He was not bothered that a high proportion of our married enlisted men were forced to rely on food stamps to feed their families.

    .... Ask Bush II

  3. Well, Bush lowered the bar so much that the Medal has really become irrelevant.  I mean, Rummy and Tenet got one too, for their "honest" work on the Iraq invasion.

    It's so sad.
