It didn't seem like Republicans cared about the last storm that seemed potentially fatal and it turned out to be (Katrina) so why should they care now? Maybe if N.O. had been all-white, they would've cared more. and instead of cancer-causing trailers, they would have had nicer living situations. Three years and it's still in shambles. The government doesn't care.

I think they can manage to cover both. That is their job and what they are getting paid for to inform the American people of news worthy events. Category 4 hurricanes should not be ignored as they have catastrophic consequences on human lives not to mention the destruction they cause to infrastructure of cites which also has catastrophic consequences.

As far as the GOP convention goes, isn't it same old, same old? Sorry but I don't think we will hear anything new from them that we haven't already heard for the last 8 years, sigh.....

Now the DNC is another story. That was uplifting, hopeful and down right positive and encouraging, a very enjoyable event open to everyone to enjoy.

They should have equal time.

If  Gustav is really as not bad as it could be, it may not be as newsworthy as it otherwise might be.

I'd rather hear those politicians telling us how great they are than to hear about the weather.
