Should the media give the freed Columbian hostages a break?

I noticed that everyone wants to interview them and they are at all these public appearances.

After all that captivity, starvation, exaustion, etc., do you feel they should be allowed to rest first? Ingrid Betancourt is supposedly considering talking to a psychologist already.

  1. Definately they should be given a break, they haven't seen there family's for 6 years they deserve time with them and try ro pretend it didn't happen.

They probably don't want to become celebrity's because of it

  2. They can choose to do an interview or not, no one's holding a gun to their head (actually, that's probably not the best way to put it - sorry).

The fact is, news sells.  That's why any of the former captives can pursue a book deal or similar opportunity at some point in time and "cash in" on the experience should they so choose.  Again, they can choose to talk about their experiences or not.  For the time being they are public persons, and to whatever extent they want to play out that role is up to each of them.
