  1. If your molding has a factory finish (already painted) and you intend to keep it that color, then paint the HOUSE first (to prevent and over-spray or dripping), however, if the molding is to require a coat of paint of your choosing, then I would suggest painting the house first and THEN the molding - just mask off around the molding to prevent accidentally applying paint to your siding/brick.

It really all depends on how confident a painter you are - and how capable the installers are!!  LOL.

    Good luck and have fun!

  2. What is the surface of the surrounding exterior walls around the molding? SInce you mentioned "precast" molding, I am assuming that the surrounding walls are covered with some kind of stucco/exterior plaster product? If so, then the precast molding usually goes up first, and then the color coat goes right up to the precast molding. Your title though, says "foam" molding. That too, would go up prior to painting...

Ask your painter why they are recommending painting the whole house first...is this based on their prior experiences in so much as being sound in the method of installation for this detail or is it just going to save them time? Could they refer you to where they might have done this before?...and if so, is this an installation method that is approved by the manufacturer of the precast molding? I would check with your supplier/distributer and for more information, check out http://www.constructionstate.com/concret...
