Should the us mint keep the penny and why?

I want some opinions I was watching tv and seen it on tv please explain the answers I wanna know so state your opinion thanks.

  1. The Mint doesn't make the decision about minting pennies, it would take an act of congress to eliminate the penny.  Given the value of the penny it would seem pointless to continue minting them.


  2. no because it costs the government more then 1 cent to make a penny
