The Oracle has made some very valid points here. It isn't smart to lay all the blame for the cancellation of the CT on western countries, they are, after all, the ones being targetted. Perhaps the Asian block should look at cleaning up their own region before throwing mud on ours, as the saying goes.

the only prob is that they've already had this kind of tournament with the asia cup. What i cant understand is why the Champions Trophy couldn't been played in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Well, a tournament between India, Pakistan and Sri lanka would be fine. There is just one problem: the main targets for extremists in Pakistan are Westerners. The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and no doubt their equivalents in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, warn of the dangers to westerners visiting there, especially in public buildings.

Now I don't particularly agree with the tournament being postponed, as I think it is giving in to extremists, and I do think that Pakistan has been portrayed rather unfairly as a third world backwater that is unable to control its people or provide adequate security.

However, there is a serious risk to westerners, and the cricket boards have decided that it is a risk not worth taking.

Perhaps instead of having the Asian countries play each other to prove a point, the cricket boards should be putting more pressure on the Pakistan government, and the international bodies, to resolve the situation in Pakistan swiftly, rather than by taking cheap jibes at other countries perceived timidity.

I totally disagree with Oracle.Indians are main targets of these terrorists along with westerners.Even when they go to tour Of Pakistan And Bangladesh,they get death threats from these people.Still Security is good in Pakistan and other countries should have no problems coming to Pakistan.
