Should there be a Titanic 2 (the ship, not the film)?

There seems to be a trend to resurrect famous names from the past for ship, for example Queen Mary 2.

Surely a Titanic 2 would be popular, for novelty value alone?

NO there is a curse on the name that cunard/white line sould never rename another ship Titanic the unsinkable. Many people would not want to travel on it due to the name. Plus of course QM1 never sank.

If they made it a replica of the original one, I can see how some people, like myself, would want to go on it. I mean how cool would it be to go on a ship that looked just like the Titanic?

There have been a few ideas for a new Titanic although I don't believe that they have gone any further than that. I found an article from the New York Post dated April 6th 1998

Many ideas have been proposed but nothing concrete has emerged and as there no longer is a White Star Line it's unlikely that another shipping line would name a new ship Titanic.
