Question:

Should there be age restrictions on certain categories?

I get annoyed when I am searching for good questions to read and hopefully give insight and I feel like all I come across is kids and immature teenagers. It bugs me to read what feels like a real question from a concerned parent and see response from obviously teenagers or children. Same goes for all of the obvious questions like "Could I be pregnant" "Is 12 too young to have a baby", etc...

Does this bug you? Is there any age restrictions on Yahoo! Answers??

  1. it bugs me but it's easily overlooked.

  2. I have only just started on yahoo! Answers , and i do understand your frustration, yes there should be an age restriction on Yahoo! Answers..Because If I ask a question, i would hope i had adults answering my questions and not teenagers that dont understand.

  3. 30 year olds ask the "could I be pregnant" question, so putting an age restriction on that wouldn't make a difference.

We just have to learn to ignore and skip over the stupid questions. Although, sometimes it's fun to let them know how stupid I think they are...

  4. yes.

  5. Oh I know! I'm tired of reading the "do you think Im pretty?' "could I be a model?"

its rediculous how these kids can get away with being on the computer so much, I mean where are their parents?

  6. rules were made to be broken besides just because YOU think certain things should have restrictions doesnt mean it has to be. all things happen to people at certain ages so what would be the point anyways

  7. I agree with the first poster. It really wouldn't matter if they changed the age, kids would lie about it anyways. Just like they do on myspace, facebook, etc..

It's sad really. Even though I'm 16, I agree with you.

It's rediculous when all you see on Yahoo! Answers are 13 and 14 year olds talking about how to have s*x and asking if they're pregnant.

I search for good questions all the time..and do find them..but they're always hidden under random Jonas Brothers,s*x,and pregnancy questions lol. I see where you're coming from though..even though i'm a teenager, i agree that there should be a age limit to some categories.

  8. Yes!!!  I was thinking the exact same thing today!!!!

  9. I don't think so, and if there were, what would it help? Anyone who wants to get into Yahoo Answers can lie about their age, which would just add to the problems.

Also, age has no relation to maturity. I'm sure there are very smart children out there who can answer questions responsibly and accurately, while others twice their age are unable to do so. I, for instance, am 14, but do my best to answer in a way that would not draw attention to my age.

So, unless the Yahoo staff were to think up a maturity test, there shouldn't be age restrictions.

  10. wouldn't matter if they did put an age restriction on things, teens would just lie about their age and go on anyways

  11. The minimum age on Y!A is 13.
