  1. keep the draw

100% of the fans are un happy

    hahahaha

  2. Draws are good, its part of the game.

  3. Its the ultimate anti-climax, but its a part of our game.. Its just another thing that makes our AFL game unique...

But I bet it infuriates the tipsters!!

  4. seems the yahoo - AFL community is all for the draw... as am I.

except for Romper Stomper it seems. I have nothing to really add to the comments already left. but in reply to Romper Stomper.. any draw can (indirectly) add excitement to the end of the season!

So yea... keep it as is! ;)

  5. Yes there should be draws in home and away - if there is an actual draw, the same number of goals and points.

If one team has 12 goals 7 and the other team 11 goals 13, then the first team should take out the points as playing better football.

In finals, extra time is needed because a finals appearance may well depend on a settled result.

  6. no, 5 minutes each way until a winner is decided or 5 shots at goal each from 40 meters out, diff angles, add a bit of excitement to it all.

  7. i dont think they should have draws. just add on another five mins of play and whoever scores the first goal or behind wins. do it just like in the finals, its that simple. or they could just give it to te team who played better footy like freo and geelong. that should have been freos game. and kangas should have won on sunday.

  8. yes. WTF is the world coming to? they ve already changed nearly everything so that footy is nothing like it used to be. Its a whole new game and they're trying to take away the traditions! a draw is good, its 2 points. If ya equal with another team then a draw is just as good as a win to get ya into the 8

  9. Yes i think it is fair. They play extra time in nrl and it is c**p. After playing for as long as they do and putting as much effort as they do both teams should share the points and be rewarded accordingly. It is unfair to play extra time and have one team walk away with nothing when in most cases it will be a decision by an umpire or ref that sways the game in extra time.

I say leave it as a draw

  10. Matt, soccer has drawn games with the teams each receiving a point each, Me personally, I like the draw.

  11. Yes, there should be draws, there is no need to change that rule. 2 points each, easy. In the finals if there is a draw, they play extra time till there is a winner, Collingwood & Eagles had to do that last year.

  12. No problem with a draw, extra time in the finals, remember except for the GF. It would be a replay like 1948 and 1977.

  13. yeah i think they should keep the draws, i dont think theres any need to change it now

  14. why change it? the only time it's necessary is in the finals. and i'm not sure how that works out, but they should have an extra 20 minutes played to decide on that. then after that, a golden goal

  15. the answer of course is YES - as the home and away season is entirely set up to eliminate over the length of the season all but the final eight teams - all teams who are 'equal' in a game (a draw in other words) should have equal opportunity to share the Home and away points -

once in the finals, extra time and 'golden point' rules make provision to ensure a definitive result - there is plenty of opportunity in that process to satisfy the fans who need a clear winner - but in the qualifying rounds before finals - all who are locked in a draw shoould have 'equal' results - and of course the points for and against and percentages will also separate the final 8 from the 'also rans'.

for those who may be interested - the afl rules dictate that in a finals game - a drawn game goes into 2 extra 'qtrs' of 5 mins length - coaches may address players only at start of this extra time.  If need be - a second 2 qtrs of 5 mins may occur to separate the teams (coaches not allowed address players - each side 5 m from each end)

Finally - as in soccer - if still a draw - the first score is the winner after 4 lots of 5 m qtrs had occurred.

a great place to browse rules and interpretations is www.afl.com.au

    - Put the mouse icon over 'Development'

    - Scoll down and click on 'Umpiring'

    - click around - see resources etc

also see 'play afl' tab under 'development' tab as above
