  1. NOOOOOOOOO

  2. Absolutely not.  Children of this age are either able to be reasoned with, or they are able to understand the consequences of their own behavior.  Consider that some of these children are just a year or two away from voting age and draft registration.  They are old enough to drive cars and they are old enough to work....sometimes side by side with adults.  To consider spanking as appropriate for that age is ridiculous.

I'm not saying that some of the children and certainly the state of discipline in many schools is shocking and shameful, but nobody in their right mind would think that spanking a high schooler is appropriate.

  3. No.  For one thing, in order for corporal punishment to deter bad behavior in someone that age, it would have to be very severe, to the point of being abusive... better to find other ways to discipline.

But if there IS paddling in your school, be good and then you won't have to worry about it!  :o)

  4. There are better ways to teach a child than to paddle and I think in high school it is just needing somebody to be there, believe in you, and show it. If that doesn't work then there are still other things you can do. But to paddle a high school kid or any kid, no. I used to let my huband paddle our kids but over time I realized it was doing nothing but making them angrier. I also realized their anger came from things that were said and done to them at school. The way they were treated made them angry even though they didn't know how to express it to me. Now I wish I had never let him spank to begin with.

  5. No. I do not see the point at that age. They are old enough to be reasoned with and a little spanking is not very scary to a 17 year old.

  6. I think it's illegal in most states, plus like one mom said, it's not very intimidating to a 17 year old to get whacked once or twice.

But I love RK's answer. I love canoeing, and it should definitely be used in high schools!

  7. No I do not believe it is right for kida in high school to be "paddled". Can you imagine how hard you would have to hit them for them to actually feel pain?

  8. Corporal punishment by so-called "educators", especially public school-types, is wrong and should be outlawed, like it is in my home state of California.

  9. No!  I don't think children should ever be paddled.

As for canoe paddling, well that is fun, but should be optional.

    :D

  10. No.  However there should be an aids infected needle used to transmit the disease to unruly children.

  11. I say if it gets the kids to behave then yes. I see it first hand everyday. Those kids dont listen and take nothing from ISS or OSS suspensions. But i also think that it could get out of hand and be absuive sometimes too. Though i doubt many would. Another problem would be adding to the viloence and the kids could start running away or hitting back! It could get very out of hand but if it would keep them in shape then i am all for it!

  12. Not only would I not do it to my kids, I would certainly never allow somebody else to.

  13. No. Does your high school do it? It is wrong and violence is not the answer to our problems.
