Should these some rules for people who want to direct a high school or community play???

Question

1. acted in at least two big productions

2. have only one thing to be involved in and thats drama

3. actually show up to the class!!!

and 4. have a number somebody can reach you at anytime.

what do u think?

and should there be more rules

I think that number two is a little strict... I mean, no ones entire life should HAVE to revolve around just one thing. As long as the director is committed and knows what they're doing (e.g. knows blocking, up stage, down stage, can teach projection... etc.) then  they should be able to share their knowledge. I don't think number one is too unreasonable but if you have someone who's enthusiastic and qualified but hasn't done big show... I don't think you should let go of them. 4 is really good. =]

I think the first one should involve a bit more...

Someone can act in five big productions...but their role and how well they did should be worth more than the number of shows they've been in.

For example, I friend of mine is still discovering herself as an actress, but has been in three shows...none of which were speaking roles.

She's my friend and all, but I wouldn't want her directly a play of any sort...not yet. The person has to know what they're doing in order to direct.

Otherwise the other rules seem to be fine. Just tweak that first one a bit.

I think rule 1. can be flexed. While it's good that they have experience in the theatre, it doesn't necessarily have to be acting experience. For one thing, acting and directing are different. Secondly, that person could have been involved in backstage, or directed another production before. I think you should take into consideration that there are ways to learn off of other directors without acting in their work.

2-a little to0o strict....it should be-have no more then two extra curicular activities (drama  plus watever)

3-persistant and is serious about acting

4-contact number is good

5-has energy and is open to new ideas
