  1. Ha ha. This javelin catching remark has been around before you were born, and most likely stated by non-track fans. People selected to judge the javelin landing have to be quick and alert. Try your lame humor on another sport. That's my elaboration.

  2. LOL watching those fiedl officials in the javelin this year there were moments when I thought they had!

They got waaaay to close for comfort at times!

  3. Yes. I recommend that you participate.

  4. Yes as long as it involves the sports commentators by the end of the games I am sure there are some from your country you like to see compete I know I have a few.

  5. *Looks up, rolls eyes, shakes head and laughs*

I would welcome a javelin catching contest.... a team event... on person blindfolded who will catch, the other person giving direction...."little to the left...back 2 steps...ok, hands up!" LOL.

Now take my hand and come on back to P/S my squirrelly friend....we all appreciate your humor over there.

  6. yea they team should be made up of prisoners serving life sentences. and they should wear straight jackets to make it more interesting, with no where to run.

  7. They already tried this during the 2007 Golden League in Rome. The finnish javelin thrower Tero Pitkämäki threw the javelin to french long-jumper Salim Sdiria. Salim Sdiria managed to catch the javelin with his lower back, but unfortunatly had to be hospitalized.

  8. To be fair track should get some "intermediate medley" events like swimming has, and one of them could be the 4x400 relay/javelin team. How this would work is, the throwers would all stand on the side of the field near turn 1, facing turn 2, and whenever the runners would make their way around turn 2 the throwers would throw the javelins at the runners of the other teams. They'd have 4 chances to throw javelins at the other teams on turn 2.

If your runner gets skewered by a javelin, that pretty much ruins your team's chances but it's not an absolute disqualification, unless they step inside the rail or out of their lane on lap 1.

  9. yes, squirrels feel free to enter

  10. The throwers and catchers would be from different nations and there would be qualifying heats, with the 'elimination' format.
