I say no, it's not distracting the players and the T.V rarely show them.

  1. Savithri...., you obviously don't have a clue! The presence of cheerleaders is not an imitation of a Western cultural feature, but rather, a business decision that is widely employed with successful results in professional leagues in the States such as the NFL and NBA, as well as their college counterparts. Now, while most fans here (in the States) treat them with mild curiosity (having been exposed to it from high school), I can only imagine the chaos they might bring about within conservative Indian circles. But that, is no reason to ban them. Rather, embrace it, and treat as a glamorous aspect of any sporting event. After all, which straight guy doesn't want to see a bunch of gorgeous athletic gals perform. There is - at least in my opinion - something inherently attractive and beautiful about it. And that fact is not lost on the IPL organizers.

  2. yes

  3. Yes, they should ban the cheerleaders. We dont have to ape the west in everything. These girls

are paid very well, and a country like India both

financially and culturally cant afford to have them.

it is total waste of money, as they dont serve any

    purpose in the game.

    savithri

  4. no. is there any need to cry on everything?

  5. I'll throw my telly out of the window, if they ban them......

That's what yu call hypocrisy...... all the politicians in India hang out with hookers, bar girls blah  blah blah....... and now, they are talking about their cultural and moral values,  they should first take a look at their own backyard (Bollywood)..... their is a lot of skin show there...... Fools !!!!!

  6. C'mon IPL shouldn't ban cheerleaders! The players don't even look at these girls, so how can the cheerleaders disturb them?

  7. YES YES YES it's  highly ridi____ous.They can wear some de----t clothes atleast. How ....... s--t.better can go back to thei. Are they cheer leaders to promote___________. I am disappointed. i wish they can raise their dress till knee!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. the cheerleader thing is gettin on my nerves just let them dance its not like they are doing anythingelse but that.

  9. Yes they should take them out. The reason being because i just read an interesting article that asks how the actual franchises will get there money returned. Alot of the ticket are being given out, and while some places are packed, how long are people going to go to these games. Something like a 100 million dollars was used, and its added things like the cheerleaders that add to the price. There are cheaper alternatives. Also the clothing on the girls imported from america( daredevils team?) are reaaaaaly revealing. Im a guy, so i dont mind too much but from the low angle camera shots that zoom in alot, u can see what there wearing under their skirts, lucky they wear black underwear :)

  10. Cheerleaders just do not belong to cricket and they are surely obscene. I do not know how I can sit with my younger brothers and family watch the cheerleaders shake their stuff. Indian culture is known for its decency but this concept of obscene cheerleaders has thrown it out of the window. Dont be surprised if they start distributing alcohol in the stadiums and showing p**n movies on the big screen and call it entertainment.

  11. cheerleaders are considered athletes in USA. i guess politicians who are comparing cheerleaders to bar girls are much more vulgar than supposedly vulgar cheerleaders. Corrupt politicians in India often use these innocuous issues to divert attention from real issues. every year there is a flood in Mumbai and no measures are taken to control that. I guess a flood which kills people disturbs their lifestyle for days is much more vulgar and important issue than some cheerleaders dancing

    get a life

BJP shiv sena and Narendra Modi are zillion times more vulgar.

  12. no coz its definitely not distracting n the viewers love it

  13. I also feel that every 4 and 6 need not be cheered. Our spectators are so passionate about this sport and we donot mind the cheerleaders when every shot being cheered by them. It actually goes well with Americanised culture and sports not with us. Cheerleaders are not so common in football or any european sports. Maybe they should perform in the break or something like that

  14. no not at all i think it's a good source of ent. for our youngistan

  15. No.They have been paid 8 crores which the sum is more than given to the winners of IPL.So,they r not a joke. That is serious & a part of entertainment for the people in the crowd. Not for us really as they rarely focus the camera on them. Some people wil;l just come to watch those girls & not cricket.I read  a board which a fan had in his hand.He had written,I came to watch the girls dancing. Not cricket, lol.

    So,they shouldn't be banned.

  16. does it really matter, why do indians try to make a issue out of everything. its all entertaining. indians, and the indian media are stupid

  17. Why do you need to ban them?

Morally / Ethically: Indian movies are showing much more already, so cant be moral or ethical reasons

First Time: IPL is definitely not the first T20 tournament to do this, why no such voices (about player distraction) were not raised in the T20 World Cup?

Players: They don't get the time to even look at them, if not the players, then who is getting distracted?

TV Audience: Do a poll...they love it!

  18. No way, they r not distracting and the viewers love them.

  19. Well, if they do ban them or cover them up because the cheerleaders are showing too much skin, I think the Indians are being hypocrites.  The Indians should actually first start with bollywood.

  20. NO! as for those who say India cant afford em..well, India IS affording them already..so just shut it u moron.and as for the cultural part..who cares anymore, if u dont want to see such stuff just dont watch it, but plz dont force the most of us to go back to dark ages with u stupid lots.

  21. no

  22. Yes they should ban the IPL cheerleaders as they would distract the players. In a country of rich culture and heritage such kind of dressing should be banned in a sporting event. I do not know why we need to ape westerners when they show skin in American football or NBA.

  23. I'm strongly whit using cheerleaders. Read here http://icwow.blogspot.com/2008/04/ipl-ch... for ipl-cheerleader-controversy and you'll understand why shouldn't ban them.

  24. Makes no difference .

I think it is "much ado about nothing" ... and the politicians need to concentrate on the pending problems of the country and not gain mileage on IPL.
