  1. I could care less about carbon seeing as though in your other question you just told me that I should kill my kids just to prevent carbon; something that is inevitable anyway.

  2. Yes, let's ban aircraft. Then we can ban cars. Oh, let's not forget motocycles and scooters, after all, they're dangerous. Let's not forget nuclear power, oh heck, let's just get rid of all the electric power, it pollutes too. Then we can all sit around the campfire; no wait, that's more pollution. Geez, what are we gonna do?

I guess we're all gonna die; which actually is enevitable, isn't it. Do some better research. Don't listen to that idiot Al Gore; the man has never lived in the real world.

A volcano puts out as much carbon in one major eruption as mankind would in more than 50 years. Guess we better plug them up too.

  3. Try and stop me.

  4. Capitalism at work. You might not like it but this is the reason we have the freedom we do. If it bugs you that much I am sure China wouldn't mind one more citizen

  5. Dogzilla is right in saying that a little research wouldn't be a bad idea.

Half a million people fly (don't know how you got that number) because half a million people want to go somewhere. Now if this  half a million chose to drive to their destination (if possible) then its even worse.

  6. people should just know that flying is bad. i don't fly anymore.

  7. OMG how about you actually do some research before you rip on planes.

If you divide the amount of fuel a modern airliner burns by the number of people, they get at least 60mpg, with some like the 787 getting over 100mpg per person.

A first generation 757 burns 2500 gallons per hour at 500mph, divide than by the 300 passengers and you get almost exactly 60 mpg per person.

Even the 40 year old 747 gets 85 mpg per person.

Before you even consider believing anything anybody says, go do your research, and dont rely on anybody elses unless they can show you in real numbers.

  8. Wow! are u serious????!!!!

Let see a modern jet liner has two very efficient jet engines and a 737 next generation seats over 100 people. Or we could have 75 or more cars on the road per flight.

You do the math on what will pollute more!!

    GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!

  9. ROFLAO - That's a stupid one.

  10. NO! All that global warming stuff is just a scam. Why don't we worry about taking cars off the road first!

  11. alright, if you want to do it, do it right. we are going to ban everything that produces carbon emissions, or relies on something that produces carbon emissions, and anything that causes any damage to the environment. so no more flying airplanes, driving cars including electric cars, no more ships, even sail boats damage the environment in their manufacture, no more computers, no more gas or oil production so no more heat sent to homes, cant burn wood because we have to cut down trees, no a/c or evaporative cooling in the summer, no more sewer systems, no more telephones, cell or other wise, no more batteries of any kind. you are going to have to get your own food, which means you have to grow your own fruits and vegetables and kill your own meat, but since there is no more electricity you are going to have to figure a way to preserve the meat and vegetables, but no more glass making, and definitely no more plastic containers. in fact no metal containers either. you will have to make your own clay pots to contain your food. since we cant drill for water, you will have to purify your own water, and no chemicals allowed so that means boiling the water, and since you cant cut down trees for firewood, you are in some trouble here. you are going to have to use natural fertilizers since processed ones arent allowed any more.

and that is just a few of the things you will have to do without. what too many wacko environmentalists seem to forget is that in order to shut down the things they think are really bad, many other things are affected that they dont want affected. this is what is known as the law of unintended consequences. it is a nasty task master that people with no foresight dont realize until it is too late. so think about what i have written for sometime before you think about banning something. remember too that once you ban a thing, it becomes easier to ban similar things, ban planes, and ships, boats, and cars are not far behind.

  12. Awww hasn't your little brain been washed.

  13. SILLY HIPPIE GO SMOKE ANOTHER

  14. No, how much carbon is it?  I'd like to see you work it out and then compare it against other sources of carbon emissions.

  15. Let's expand on your logic and see where the flaw lies.

There are 100,000,000+ people that drive each day in the USA alone. Should we ban cars as well? That's a lot more carbon than aircraft produce. Most of our electricity is generated by burning coal. Should we ban devices that use electricity too so we don't need to burn coal? That's more carbon than cars and aircraft combined.

Reactionism never solves anything. You probably don't truly understand the role that aircraft play in the world today. It isn't just people flying on vacation, but business people trying to make a living for their families, patients from all over the world going to specialist doctors thousands of miles away, millions of tons of cargo and mail, emergency services (fire fighting, air ambulances, police, search and rescue, disaster relief), and our national defense depend on aircraft as well. Banning aircraft will seriously effect not only the US but the entire global economy and could do untold economic damage to even the richest nations on the planet.

All the hype on using grains to produce alternative fuels is now causing food shortages and rising food costs (resulting in food riots and deaths) in third-world countries.

There is no easy answer, but banning will only remove a little carbon, while denying the people of this world what have become essential services and valued personal freedoms. That's my two cents.

  16. Sorry Hellsmart, passenger and cargo aircraft are all more economical per passenger km/year than any form of transport barring certain ships.  Cars are far worse, as are motor bikes and even buses and trains. There is a reference that I will post here as soon as I can cite it correctly.

Flying reduces travel time, enhances trade, promotes economic growth, either through business or tourist travel, and has a relatively low external cost (ACCIDENTS AND SO ON).

    I will keep flying.

  17. Yeah, next year they will say that carbon is good for the plants and atmosphere.  Global warming is a huge hoax.  In the 70's they told us the Earth was cooling and another ice age was coming.  Weather is cyclical.  Don't worry about it.
