Merge Sydney teams and bring back Perth and Adelaide teams

or

Relocate the dead weight:

Manly - What these tools did to Norths is a disgrace and alone is a reason why they should be moved, they also have horrible crowds(worst in 10 years apparently), especially considering they are coming 1st in the comp.

Eels - No money

Souths - Ridiculous owner

Keep the Sydney clubs with the money(Bulldogs,Penrith), the facilities(St George going back to OKI, Sharks,Roosters), the juniors(Penrith,St George,Tigers) and finally THE FANS THAT TURN UP TO GAMES.

Honestly if we dont do something now, RL could be buried. I'd rather support a new team, then have no game at all.

  1. maybe

    it could work..

but it would be pretty hard to make it popular again.

  2. WTF???

    Are you mentally retarded?

Perth and Adelaide teams WILL NOT WORK.

This game is played on the eastern seaboard, not in Perth and Adelaide.

About Manly- Worst crowds in the comp? We pack nearly every game, unlike the Storm, who get 5 people turning up each game.

Eels are a great club to have in the league. Souths is a foundation club.

Please, I know you may be suffering with some sort of mental illness that prevents you from thinking correctly, but don't make random threads that make no sense.

  3. someone needs to make some very tough decisions, and relocate or merge teams, we also need to get out of Sydney, not altogether but start building fan-bases in other states, country regions, even the south island of NZ, so in time maybe a team from Perth,Adelaide or a country region of nsw like dubbo or orange can be sustained and successfully!

another alternative is to start again, scrap the nrl and start a new competition with 2 teams from each state and 2 from NZ, but again we need to build a fan base in other areas first!

at the end of the day, not everyone is going to be happy, but i agree something needs to be done, and soon!

  4. Love you idea you should work for NZ RUGBY LEAGUE THEY COULD DO WITH YOU.

  5. No, super league nearly destroyed the game in the 90's.The game is still trying to get over the player bidding war (Packer for ARL and Fox for super league). The money offered by both sides was ludicrous with contract monies coming from the television bodies and not from the league. Unfortunately, the inflated contracts are still in place and the monies earned from the game is diminishing due new club taxes in NSW and reduced patronage due to so many teams using the cavernous stadium at Homebush.

What we do need is to realise that rugby league is not a national sport, that title belongs to cricket and AFL. It is not even an international game. It being only played on the east coast of Australia, northern England and the Auckland area of NZ.

Accept for what it is, a great local game. If the powers that be accept this and work on this basis, league will again thrive but not if we try to make it something it is not.
