Men have been scraping their fces for so long that we forget that their real look is ape-like and doesn't that explain a lot?

I do not exactly know what you are looking for here...but I suggest you read Margret Meads "coming of age in Soma"  or that instead of looking at primitive man as being part of the simian matrix you look at the cultural aspects and social aspects....the Nature Nurture question rears its head again

if i woz a man i'd grow a hairy face cos it must be a real pain having to shave? its bad enuff shaving my legs once a year lol (whether they need it or not)

Some men don't like to have any facial hair, some women dislike men with facial hair.  Would you support women not shaving their armpits or legs as much as you appear to support (demand) men not shave?

Of course.  Just look to those of the species who do not scrape their faces for clear evidence of this ~ those who often 'paint' their faces are clear evidence of your correctness in your supposition.

Yes I agree,   it sucks having to succomb to the social ramifications of our culture, but just be glad you are not a woman,  They do so much more! Im sure you ve had to wait for one in your time.....but she probably looked d**n good eh?

But in sociological terms, the shaving of the was believe to be functional to cro magnun and even neandetral (sp) because it increased skin sensitivity reduced hazard and provide some sort of ritualistic  passage or mythology.

In terms of evolution we inherited the beard from our common mammalian ancestors as the felion, horse, and bear.   It anomoluos hair on the brow and/or mame was a means to make the head look bigger or fuller as a show of dominance or hierarchy.
