After all total weigt is what matters for the aircraft. I trick I do is take heavy items out of my luggage and put them in my pocket and wear all the extra clothing together.. It bothers me that I should be charged a lot extra for excess baggage when I only weigh 9 stone yet someone who is overweight due to eating too much does not have to pay extra at all.

  1. Many people would agree with that.

The problem I see is that you would have to make allowances for "natural" extra weight, so a short 14 year old girl is going to weigh next to nothing, while a 6' 6" guy who is slim will weigh a lot more just because of his skeleton not because of excess flab.

  2. aye get those fat s***s off the plane, help our carbon footprint n that...

  3. Oh my god - you cannot be serious?!  How do you know they are overweight due to eating too much?  They could be pregnant, have an under-active thyroid, be on steroids for cancer even.

Judge ye not lest ye be judged mr I wear all my Luggage!!!

  4. Yes but its not about someone being fat or overweight. The more weight a plane carries the more fuel it will use.

And its not just the weight of a person that should be taken into account. The weight of things carried on board should be taken into account including duty free alcohol etc.

  5. So, someone like me who is 6'7", 280 and NOT fat should pay a penalty in your favor?  I don't think so.

Here's a remarkable idea sparky, don't take excess baggage!

  6. They will eventually catch on to you. Airlines are getting smarter and smarter now-a-days. People who are 'overweight' do sometimes have to buy 2 seats.

  7. Yes, YES,  YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!!!
