Should thiago alves get a title shot?

i really dont like him but hes got some nice wins i think he should fight an explosive fighter like anthony johnson or someone who comes at you quick

He still needs to earn it, not making weight for his fight with Matt Hugues was unacceptable.

yes he should he good and has the all around skills and put up a good fight for the champ.

nope - he didn't make weight and still has a lot to prove. hughes is on the downside of his career and is going to retire soon. he'll need to prove he's serious in the next couple of fights before getting worked by GSP.

Yes he should just not yet.

I think he could win right now over GSP but thats not how things are gonna play out - like someoen else said he will most likely have one more fight before he faces GSP or maybe Fitch if gsp loses (he better not lol)

He had a good excuse for not making weight, he was hurt. still he needs another win before getting a shot a Silva. let him fight bisping,lutter or macdonald first.

He's going to get it. He's probably the hottest fighter at 170 right now, coming off of two huge wins. He's big enough, definitly explosive and powerful enough to give GSP some trouble; An explosive striker that can neurtralize GSP's takedowns could be the the answer to the riddle. We know that GSP can be knocked out.  I may be overlooking someone, but who else is there?

no, he missed weight. that deducts his title shot. have him fight a koscheck, serra or a sanchez first.

Right now the title picture for this division is messed up.

GSP is putting the belt on the line in August vs Jon Fitch at UFC 87. So the next available title fight would seem to be late October or November. If GSP retains, which I expect him to, It could be as late as December given he has fought a lot this year.

With that time frame I would expect to see Alves fight one more and win to get his title shot. The obvious candidate would be Matt Serra, but Matt Hughes says he wants one more crack at Serra. Dana White says he will make the fight when Hughes requests it, so Serra might not be available to fight Alves.

he has earned it he is good and underrated you will see and to not like him he is a super nice guy and very humble
