In my league and someone has David Ortiz and he went down. In desperation he traded pena for uggla and ludwick. That day it was excepted Pena went down as if it wasn't a bad trade to begin with. People including the person that was receiving pena vetoed it. But about half the league thinks it should be vetoed half doesn't.

Should an injury be grounds to veto? Who player is it technequilly when its pending? Should a person in the trade be able to veto?

To make a long story short it was vetoed and now the league is in chaos. People want their money back. I think that its a close call either way, but everyone else has such a strong opinion. Someone help me out!

  1. The trade should rightfully be vetoed anyway. Pena is having a bad season and Uggla and Ludwick are having All-Star seasons. That is all that needs to be said for why it got vetoed.

  2. I feel a trade can only be vetoed if it's apparent both parties are doing a ridiculous one sided trade to sabotage the league, or if one of hte players traded was injured and the other owner wasn't aware of the news, but not when one of the players gets injured while the trade is going through, only before when the trade was offered.  Otherwise, most trades should go through.  Even if it's one sided, it has to go through because both parties agreed to it.  If you're upset one of the owners is stupid, you shouldn't be playing with a stupid owner in your league.

Those are my feelings/rules to vetoes.  You guys should have agreed to terms on when a trade can be vetoed at the beginning of the season, and should do so after this fiasco.  Your writing was a bit jumbled so I can't tell if Pena was injured before or after this trade was accepted, so I can't say a yes or no, but it shouldn't be vetoed if Pena wasn't hurt at the time of accepting the trade, and should be if he was and the other owner wasn't aware of it.

Also I don't think it's fair for an owner to veto a trade after it was made, he should have thought it through before he clicked accept trade.  There are no do-overs in fantasy sports, you acceptted it, u live with it, you had all the time in the world to reject

  3. Just to clarify:

    Manager A.) Trades Uggla

Manager B.) Trades Ludwick and Pena

The trade was accepted, and the next day the INJURY to Pena occurred while the trade was pending.

Thanks for the responses, you are definitely helping to settle this dispute in our league.

  4. The guy who had Ortiz Had Pena or he traded for Pena?

Either way, if the trade was accepted PRIOR to an injury that ONLY required a 15 Day DL trip (which Pena is), the trade SHOULD have to go through.

If Pena was out for the season, I could see a veto...but Pena will be back shortly.
