  1. no apostrophe. "its" with no apostrophe shows the possessive form. for example, it is the same as "his", "hers", "theirs", etc.

"it's" with the apostrophe means it is an abbreviation, as in "it is".

  2. no apostrophe or else the contraction takes on the meaning of it is

  3. yes

  4. It does not have an apostrophe. While other words have an apostrophe if expressing possession its/it's is different and only has an apostrophe when you want to say "it is".

  5. yes, it should have an apostrophe, because the rules belong to the level, thereby expressing possession of the rules by the individual levels.

    OKAY OKAY - I WAS WRONG!  :(

"Be aware of the its/it's trap. Use an apostrophe with the word "it" only when you want to indicate a contraction for "it is" or "it has." Its is a pronoun, and pronouns have their own possessive form that does not use an apostrophe. For example, "That noise? It's just the dog eating its bone." This may seem confusing, but it follows the same pattern as other possessive pronouns: his, hers, its, yours, ours, theirs. "

    there....is that better?

  6. No it doesn't. Adding in an apostrophe in this case means that you omitted a letter or two (it's meaning it is).

If there was an apostrophe the sentence would read "Each level has it is own set of rules". Doesn't make sense, does it?

  7. it should be yes.each level is singular
