They want the govt to dictate what cars are built should they be forced to ride bikes, walk or ride public transportation everywhere? Perhaps they should make an example and do what they say they want done and let them see if they can get by in life this way.

  1. Conservitives don't stand in the way of alternate energy. As far as a social security check, well if I live to 145 I would have finally gotten back what I paid in, with no intrest.   Yes tree huggers should sell their cars, air conditioners, and furnaces. AND any thing else they have made of plastic, or that uses energy (yes even their computers). They should walk to work, and buy nothing that was shipped on a truck. Public transportation usually uses as much or more energy than private transportation. The only reason it costs less to ride the bus is because it's expences (losses) are covered by tax dollars. When the local bus starts making money, you will find people starting their own bus lines.  Think about it, Am Track moved 120,000 people about 2,500,000 miles last year. It costs as much to take the train as fly, BUT tax payers had to pick up a 2.5 million loss. That's a dollar a mile on top of the fares.

  2. Yes, and war mongers who support the occupation of Iraq should be forced to grab a gun and go fight and die for their beliefs.

Solving the problem of the US dependence of foreign oil by drilling offshore is like solving your problem of heroin addiction by finding a new dealer.

It is a very conservative idea to conserve the environment and make America safer by reducing our reliance on foreign countries to provide our energy.  We cannot under any circumstances drill in enough places to get the oil we need to survive.  That is the scary part.

Social Security is welfare, no one forces you to accept it.  leap made a valid point.  We are all forced to pay school taxes, but not forced to have kids attend school.

  3. Yes, I think that's a great idea, no cars, no heat or air conditioning.  I've also wished we could make a law that everyone who bashes wars on the basis of it's for oil have to give up these luxuries as well.

  4. They should have their drivers license taken away from them for the rest of their life and make them walk. Oh, Walking is not crowed either. There is plenty of room for walking

  5. Drilling is NOT going to lower the gas prices. The oil companies already have plenty of land they could drill on, but aren't so they can keep the prices up and make a profit! I am not opposed to MORE drilling because of the environment, I am opposed because padding the oil companies pockets is NOT going to help us. Let them use what they have first and then come ask for more. The less oil they release for consumption right now, the higher the price per barrel can be and the more money they make. Additionally, there are no more oil rigs available for drilling! As nice as it sounds, drilling is NOT an immediate solution for us and it will NEVER be a path to energy independence.

Also.. I just want to add, public transportation isn't even available in rural areas. I have to drive an hour to get to the clinic where I work and there definitely is no bus that could drive me there. I do car pool though. =)

  6. Yes.

And Conservatives against Socialism should be forced to decline any government assistance, and send back their Social Security checks.

    (This means you, John McCain)

  7. One of the most famous tree huggers of all time- Gore, has a boat, jet and SUV.  He can afford the gas because he's rich and has become even richer by his global warming books.  Ironic, huh?

  8. Hmmm, wouldn't it be nice if everyone who took up a cause actually lived in a manner that supported it? Sure, it would make sense that those who stand in the way of "progress" not be allowed to enjoy any of the benefit.

BUT, this is the USA, and people have free will to do as they please. We love our country and the freedoms we have, so we will just have to put up with the few that go about issues in a very radical way.

Its my guess that the government is gonna do what they want to do, regardless of the tree huggers. Oh, yeah, they'll hold off a bit, try to talk it out, but in the end, its the government and they'll just run their butts over when they've had enough. They'll build what they wanna build, take what they want to take, and tell everyone who doesn't agree to politely "shove it".

Its kinda like my kids... Yeah, they can all protest chores, and I'll listen to their complaints, maybe even change things a bit---but in the end, they're gonna do them, or I'll run their sorry butts over : )

  9. Wow. This isn't a question, it's a statement.

I might as well ask -- should conservatives who stand in the way of alternative energy be forced to live on the melting icecaps?

  10. I think that the real issue, regardless of what position that someone takes, is that today it seems like people make take a stance on an issue, but they never think about the big picture.  Sure, alternative fuels can and should be explored, but oil goes so far beyond what most of the liberal views.  Sure, we can turn off the power, but ask people to remember the last time that their electricity was out, and how they went nuts after an hour or two, and remind them that fire or the sun will be their heat and light options.  (Forget about A/C.)  Maybe it'll be good, considering how fat we've become.   Since there won't be grocery stores, or any other food outlets any more, and if there was, why would anyone walk?  That's what the moving walkways in airports are for, huh?  I guess that water would be a problem, too, but I guess that we could boil it, but with all the need for fire, someone would just start complaining that we're killing trees and poluting the air.  At least all of the plastics that have been created (using oil) will still be around for people to use to carry their water from the river.  (I hope that it's close....)

Well, I guess that we'd get back to good old evolution and survival of the fittest.....

  11. I'm sure not all people who believe in helping the earth are tree huggers. They care for the earth unlike SOME people. And If they care so much about it. I'm sure they walk, ride buses, or ride bikes. (Like I do). People ruined the earth and all they want to do is help, and you mock them. The nerve of people. And to the last part of your question. " They say they want done and let them see if they can get by in life this way." Basically, not using cars? Yah everyone who doesn't use a care will magically combust. Yah. I THINK we can manage....
