A lot of people want to sit around a complain about how they don't like the president and most of these people did not even vote. So do you think voting should be mandatory or not and why?

  1. The USA is all about freedoms. Making someone vote takes away their freedom not to.

  2. No. I don't want uninformed mo-rons voting.

  3. No, I don't think it should be mandatory.  The benefits are that everyone gets out and votes, but the major detriments are that so many of these people just don't care and will randomly pick who they want.  Also, compulsory voting is just not the way we as a country were created, and to do so would infringe on the rights of people to choose whether or not they want to vote.

On the other hand, I have a pretty decent solution: make election day a national holiday.  Don't give the people who say they didn't have the time to do it an excuse.  And don't force working people to have major issues getting to the polls.  It's simple and effective, and I guarantee the number of voters will skyrocket.

  4. No - simply because it is a slippery slope. if you can mandate that people must vote then you can determine WHO they must vote for.

Not a place we want to go.

  5. I do think it should be. People are frustrated but complain and never vote.

  6. No it shouldn't be mandatory... but it's their own fault if the country doesn't go the way they want it... who knows if people had voted like they should have then we would have seen much different presidents in our time... but there will always be those that fight and argue about politics and swear on their momma's grave that they will vote only to find out they were "too busy" to do so...

it's their choice whether they want to voice their opinion when it counts or have to live with it for the next 4 - 8 years... :/

  7. Voting shouldn't be mandantory because there are too many people in this country who do not have the brains to choose a responsible candidate. However, there are far to many people who do not have the brains to choose a responsible candidate that do vote...so it's a no win situation.

  8. No, but it should be easier.

Why do we only have 1 day to pick a leader for the next 4 years?  Let's get some kind of effectively secured voting system ( so 1 vote per citizen ) and have it open for a week or even a month.

  9. No, it should not be mandatory.

  10. I don't think voting should be mandatory but I do think people should exercise their right to vote.  We as a nation women, men, minorities, have been through h**l and back to get that right.

  11. h**l no, mob rules, never works

  12. No.  I don't want stupid people voting nor ones who don't care enough to know what's going on.
