  1. I say we should boycott all the gas companies, we need to do it just for 1 day.. Nobody buys gas for a day, maybe even a week, and this is making a statement saying how much we can affect society if we just stop buying one simple thing that runs everything.. Gas...

  2. I think it would be a great idea...but will people do it? Most likely not...

  3. riots

but in all seriousness no because there are plenty of other countries (like china) who would glady purchase the oil and gas that we dont.

  4. If you ask me gas prices have been ridiculous low for far too long. I'm not saying the oil companies aren't exploiting the situation, cause they are. But lets say oil companies suddenly became non-profit organizations and we got the gas at cost, do you really think that's going to make the world a better place ? People will just waste it until its all gone, then what ? Think of the future for one second and you'd realize that eventually we are going to have to become a sustainable society anyway and the sooner we do it, and the less environmental damage we cause, the better of we'll be.

  5. YES...the entire country should boycott. shut off their engines and blockade every gasoline retailer in the united states. but it will never happen because we cant seem to get it together enough to take a meaningful stand on anything.

  6. what country? yes if ur on about uk!

  7. How about buying something other than SUVs and gas guzzlers?

  8. The U.S should not be using oil in our vehicles...PERIOD!

After the gas crunch in the 70's another form of fuel should be used now.

Economics azz, oil shouldn't be traded and should not go up because someone thinks a certain way.  This summer will be a disaster for travel.  Many businesses will fold and the oil companies will still want their $5.00 + a gallon gas.

    F'em!!!!!!!!!

  9. thats a good idea.

    kudos to you

i think it should deff. be done.

  10. Gas companies are not going to lower their profit margin because a few people do not buy gas.  It is simple economics 101.

  11. Its a great idea!

  12. If it were possible, then the companies to boycott would be Chevron, Shell and Citgo (7-11's sell that gas from Venezuela).  These are companies that buy exclusively from the OPEC (Middle East) countries, and who allow OPEC to set the gas prices.

Congress during one of their "famous" fact finding commissions asked the question of the oil companies as to why they can charge that much for gas.  They (the oil companies) responded by citing maintenance, transportation and research.  When asked about them continuing to show record quarterly profits, the oil companies song and danced without giving an answer and Congress let them off the hook.

      What does that tell you?

America is being raped by our own politicians.  I remember when the cable companies tried to do the same thing with their prices, Congress jumped in and reined them in.

But the boycott thing will never work.  To many Americans are willing to shrug their shoulders and accept things as they are.

  13. yeeess!

i think we need american gas only because who knows what other countries are doing to it anyway

and why the heck is everything so expensive since gas prices sky rocketted anyway?

this time in life is bad what happened to 98 cents a gallon back in the 90s

  14. i would say yes but it will make no difference, sooner or later (sooner before later) you or your neighbor is going to NEED gas to go to work, shop, and just live a regular life. you can only do without it for so long, and that's why they can get away with these astronomical prices, it would take the truck drivers (who don't make what they used to because of the cost) to stop driving for only 1 or 2 days, that would cause such a ripple effect that the government would have to step in

other than that we are out of luck and the people that could make the difference in Washington don't care, they act like they do to get a vote, because they are not really affected by it like you are (your tax dollars buys a lot of government used gasoline)

  15. no, because you will destroy the economy.  They will not lower the prices.  If they are losing money and going bankrupt, are they going to say,"oh! lets lower the prices!"  No!  they are going to raise them.  We all depend on gas to keep our cars running.  We import gas from the middle east and we are dependent on them.  As consumers, we all must do our part to keep the economy running as it should be.  So, basically my answer is no.

  16. absolutely

  17. Why not?

  18. boycott but

    dont go here

omg dont go here its a trap

  19. I'd honestly save your time. congress has gone to the oil companies already and told them they're making people have to choose between gas in their cars and other things in life like food and medical. The oil companies said that with the economy the way it is they're doing nothing wrong. They are pricing gas withing reason. Which we all know is c**p, they could lower it, but they don't care about us they only care about themselves. So congress told them that they need to start spending more money on how to make gas more "eco" friendly. And they all agreed. So........ this means that within the next 5 years we'll FINALLY start seeing a change in gas prices after they've figured out how to me more efficient so they can lower the cost.

  20. h**l yeah we need to make a stand

  21. The only way to boycott is to quit driving altogether, which i did 2 years ago.

Doing these boycott on such and such day is stupid, you still get gas the day before or after, not affecting the stations...

  22. No. If enough people boycott certain companies long enough, those companies would indeed lower prices. Until you started buying from them again that is, then they'd jack the price back up.

The only answer to rising gasoline prices is to quit using it. Hydrogen, solar, vegetable oil, methane, many different kinds of alcohol including ethanol can all be used to power cars. Not all of them are as energy efficient as gasoline but it's the only way to fix the problem for good.

  23. i think they tried to do it last summer, i can't remember how much money the gas companies actually lost or if it even worked

  24. Be very careful what you ask for, and how you ask for it.  Boycotting, or even calling for a boycott, can be deemed a serious violation of federal law.  You could be opening tghe door to prosecution if the right person sees your posting, or hears you talk of it.

By the way, in most cases, it isn't the petro-chemical companies that are driving up the cost of fuel.  It's the futures stock traders that are artificially inflating the cost of a barrel of oil to protect their investments.  Oil companies have to pay for the oil they refine and make into fuel. They simply pass increased costs onto consumers.

  25. Yes!!  I've gotten a few circulating forwards about boycotting Exxon/ Mobil.  They are the top oil company, so if enough of us boycott them, they will be forced to lower their prices, and the rest of the oil companies should follow.  Let's do it!!
