Should we be thanking De La Hoya?

The reason I say this is because didn’t De La Hoya say his last fight would be with Cotto? Thus, if Cotto beat him (which I think he would) could that make it possible for a Cotto-Mayweahter Match up?

First of all, DeLaHoya does not even need to fight anymore. However, if he fights Cotto, DeLaHoya would win! I wish Cotto would fight mayweather, I would love to see Cotto get stomped on!

De la hoya isnt going to fight cotto, first he's going to walk through steve forbes, than a toss-up with floyd mayweather in september, than a farewell fight with a big name who cant fight (alfonso gomez?) in december, he only wanted cotto when a rematch with mayweather was out of the question, you cant blame de la hoya, he has fought for 16 years and never ducked anyone, its time for him to hang up the gloves without taking to much punishment in the process, but on that note i think de la hoya beats cotto, de la hoya took vargas's, mosley's, trinidad's, hopkins's, sturms', molina's, and mayorga's best punches (all punch harder than cotto) without getting knocked out ( he gave up in the hopkins fight, wasnt knocked out) so cotto would have to outbox oscar, which wouldnt work either because oscar has better boxing skills when he remembers to use them and longer arms as well, and a cotto win wouldnt entice a mayweather fight anyway because cotto has already cleaned out the welterweight division (except margarito) and floyd wont fight him, so an event fighter like de la hoya wont change his mind

I think they are sucking the life out of Cotto man.  Cotto is going to end up like Margarito, at some point between all these BS fights to "prove" that he has the talent to beat Floyd he is going to get caught with a lucky punch or he is just going to loose in a bad day and there goes his chance JUST LIKE MARGARITO, when Floyd Never, Never gave him the fight when Margarito was  ready and he was forced like they are doing with Cotto now, waiting for him to loose and just crush his oportunity, that is so UNFAIR AND B.S.!    

If he is so good, why does he still avoids fighting with him, and even today Margarito has called him a chicken continuosly on the media and every one knows it, and still no fight scheduled.  

People, Cotto had to fight with a "boxer" from the CONTENDOR!!! COME ON MAN, THERE IS NO ONE ELSE OUT THERE TO FACE COTTO EXEPT MAYWEATHER, CUT THE BULL c**p!!  BRING HIM ON!
