  1. Of course we should.

There isn't any reason we shouldn't take that responsibility.

We should do more to preserve there habitats.

  2. They are important components in the food chain of their ecosystem and their extinction will alter the natural structure and the availability of other species.

  3. h**l yeah

  4. First, all species deserve existence regardless of their implications on humans.

Secondly, saving species is a crucial component of maintaining biodiversity.  Biodiversity is important in the balance of life on earth.  For instance, Salmon in western Canada is being overfished.  Salmon gather nitrates in their bodies while they are in the ocean and when they swim upstream to spawn, numerous carnivores will eat them.  Everyone knows the prey-predator relationship, what they don't know is that salmon are an important source of Nitrogen in the forest soils on British Columbia.  The leftover fish decay and the nitrogen is placed into the soil and acts as a fertilizer.  So we can see just how important one species can be. If the salmon disappear, maybe other species in the forest will die because of the loss of this important process.  Biodivesity is the key to a healthy planet and saving every species we can ensures we keep it healthy.

  5. Yes we should.

  6. I am going to say no. However, i do believe we need to keep species. The Endangered Species Act is both a good and bad thing. It is good to save species, but we allocate a lot of money to look at the conservation of a single species. I understand that often it ends up helping another species.

A better way to conservae speceis from extinciton would be to prevent the loss of critical habitat areas. Rainforests, savanna, etc etc are critical areas for multiple species. But don't forget about swamps and marshes, they may not be visually appealy but still have highly specialized species that need to be conserved.

So conservation of a large variety of habitat types may be a better way to maximize the dollars and still conserve a majority of species.

  7. Sure do!
