Question:

Should we be trying to stop climate change?

I'm not debating that climate isn't real, I don't know for sure. But even if is changing, and assuming its our fault, should we be trying so hard to reverse the effects?

We have tried saving elephants in South Africa, only to have to cull them as they are destorying the area. Same for Elks in certain parts of America.

We try and make life better for people in Iraq, only to bring them years of war and thousands innocents dead.

What is to say we won't s***w up saving the planet? Most places in the world will be better off, milder winters, hotter summers, better crops, less heating bills (less energy).

We don't know the actual outcome of climate change (hotter, wetter, sea level changes etc etc) so how can we decide that we would better off if we try and combat it?

  1. its like were heading for a wall in a car going 80 now it doesnt matter whos driving ...someone has to stand up and say look out were about to hit a wall , its alot easier to steer away from the wall then to hit it and try to pick up all the pieces . The distance between the wall is getting closer and closer

  2. No, how and why would a warmer climate be bad?  Last I checked, alot of things grow in an actual greenhouse

  3. We do know the actual outcome of climate change, since it has happened before:

    Permian–Triassic extinction event

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permian-Tri...

It was the Earth's most severe extinction event, with up to 96 percent of all marine species and 70 percent of terrestrial vertebrate species becoming extinct. Because approximately 25 percent of species survived the event, the recovery of life on earth took significantly longer than after other extinction events. This event has been described as the "mother of all mass extinctions".

Climate Model Links Warmer Temperatures to Permian Extinction

    http://www.physorg.com/news6003.html

"The CCSM indicated that ocean temperatures warmed significantly at higher latitudes because of rising atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. The warmer temperatures reached a depth of about 10,000 feet (4,000 meters), interfering with the normal circulation process in which colder surface water descends, taking oxygen and nutrients deep into the ocean.

As a result, ocean waters became stratified with little oxygen, proving deadly to marine life. Because marine organisms were no longer removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, that, in turn, accelerated warming temperatures.

"The implication of our study is that elevated [carbon dioxide] is sufficient to lead to inhospitable conditions for marine life and excessively high temperatures over land would contribute to the demise of terrestrial life," the authors conclude.

Lake Mead could be dry in six years, and the Pentagon tells us that we could have global food riots and anarchy in 20 years.  So yes, we should stop contributing to the warming.

Think of it as insurance.  Do you have car insurance?  Your odds of being in a car accident are far lower than your odds of being affected by global warming.

  4. The sooner you totally s***w up this world, the sooner Christ will return. So stop trying to change the inevitable and just get on with it.

  5. I think we should spend more time with the conservation of animals - i ain't no tree-hugger, but its shocking how much damage we've done to thousands of different species in the last few years, and not bothered our a*ses coz it wasn't "conveniant" for us to do anything about it.

However, it is becoming more of an issue considering how much we rely on nature for our resources, so we should respect it more & make the effort to be more constructive with our resources.

  6. Are we going to wake up one morning and find all the oil, coal and natural gas is gone?  Our great-great-grandchildren will have some alternatives in the next 150 years, even before that happens.

  7. If you don't believe in climate change, then let me spin it to you this way.

I think we should try to get off of our dependence (addiction?) to oil because we're funding the area of the world that condones and encourages terrorism.  We also don't want to start drilling in the Arctic or in Alaska for oil, because we know for a fact that it ruins the ecosystem.

Combine those facts with my personal annoyance and hatred of paying an astronomical amount of money at a gas station once or twice a week.

Those 3 things mean that I am desperate to find an alternative vehicle and am praying for an affordable electric car!

  8. there is no way for any special interest group to profit from pointing out the benefits of global warming & there are many.

congratulations on being able to think for yourself despite all the alarmist propaganda.

  9. Spoken like a true Classical Conservative... There are a vast number of things that we have done that were intended to improve things that backfired... but there are also a whole lot of things that we have managed to improve. Just 160 years ago a huge number of people in this country were legally the property of other people. We managed to improve that situation considerably, though more work still needs to be done. People used to die of what are now considered very simple diseases to treat or prevent and even though the use of antibiotics has had some negative effects and may have more in the future doesn't mean that we should never have developed them.

Just because something might backfire on us doesn't mean that we shouldn't try!

  10. climate change is a natural phenomenon so leave it alone and it will take care of itself.

  11. I don't see why everyone is just sitting back and letting climate change go.  We dump millions and millions of tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere every year.  Just try to tell me that is not gonna mess up the atmosphere.  If it isn't climate change, it's definitely gonna mess something up, so we need to do something about it (starting with electric cars, because they seem to be the best alternative to gas powered cars right now).

  12. accutally warming would be great becuase it would mean more habitat, more food more plant and animal species just look at the geologic record. Cooling is when it gets scary. I think mother nature does a great job by her self and we should let her work things out.

  13. First ask yourself two questions:

    1. Who is making the most money from selling global warming to the world?

      2. How does all this data compare to the 1970's Global Cooling Craze that was disproved by the exact same science

Global warming, CO2 production and the Bio fuels craze are what is called “Bias Science” Taking statistical data from a narrow set to prove their point.

A good example of this is the increase CO2 in the earth’s atmosphere. After H20

(Water vapor) CO2 is produced by volcanic and tectonic action in vast amounts.  Mt St Helens during her last eruption Emitted 22,000,000 Kg per day of CO2 during her last eruption cycle. That went on for MONTHS.  Now times this by all the other volcanic eruptions, all the CO2 produced by other geologic events (Hot springs oil and natural gas seeps) plate tectonics’ you start seeing that mother earth is the biggest CO2 offender out there.

By the way did you know that one of the biggest reasons why they say there is global warming is because the amount of CO2 seen in the Hawaii islands on top of Mona Loa?

What they forget to tell you is that Mona Loa is an active volcanic mountain with 3 volcanic ranges!

They also forget to tell you that unless someone funds a study they won’t do it. That is why you don’t see CO2 sensors on all these active volcanos’s because the money is not there to pay for the scientists to show how much CO2 is being produced.

Man’s only effect on global warming is being caused by the reckless destruction of the rain forests to produce bio-fuel.  Bio fuel produces CO2 in its process and uses about 30 gallons of pure fresh water to make 5 gallons. The waste emits CO2 and is a bio hazard.

If you want to stop mans effect on CO2  production, stop cutting down the rain forests and go nuclear, boycott China because the use dirty coal to produce energy and have no emissions standards in place.

Do some studying on the 1970’s and global cooling, you will find out that they are using the same science for different reasons.

As for the temperature changes that are being seen in the cities, try this out

    http://wattsupwiththat.wordpress.com/200...

All those Bias statistics are based on these stations.

The hype over global warming is just that, hype. Ask yourself why the global warming crowd never has any conferences’ where it is cold? Like New York? St. Paul?. Maybe because with this winter being on the record books (Statistically) for the most cold days and snowfall in since the 1980’s they just may have to narrow their data set to exclude it!

Geology has some pretty hard evidence that this was the cause of the Permian–Triassic extinction event:

try this NASA site that is not flooded with liberal bias (wicka puda as I call it)

Google earth asteroid impacts and you can see where we have been hit in the past.
