gone too far? They ignore us when we complain about Chinese goods, so maybe not buying American will get the Republicans' attention, perverse as it seems at first glance.

  1. America don't make anything, do they?

  2. I stopped buying ***** made in china a long time ago, and it has nothing to do with republicans.

  3. Other than giving China 'Most Favored' status (which wasn't a Republican thing - it was an "our president is an idiot" thing), what exactly are we boycotting here?

Does the US believe in an open market system or not?  If YES - then China is simply playing the game (and winning).  People want stuff at a better price - China can make stuff at a lower price.  If you were to suddenly decree that all consumer products must be made in the US, prices would skyrocket - and consumers would be unhappy.

Besides which, what American made products are left nowadays?  All electronics come from Korean and Japanese companies whose parts were made in Korea, China, Malaysia and the Philipines.  Even so-called "American" computers, like Dell, HP, Compaq, etc. are assembled in Mexico, with chips manufactured in Taiwan, and cases manufactured in China.

Heck, my Toyota is more "American" than your average Ford or Chevy.  My car was assembled in Kansas from parts manufactured in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Japan.

Even most of the produce you buy in the grocery store comes from Mexico and South America - which is mind boggling since I live in California which is one of the nation's biggest producers of fruit and vegetables!

  4. Not much to boycott, eh?
