My husband is in the army and just got orders to Vicenza, Italy. The army will ship one car for us, so should we bring our VW Passat? Would we have any problems if repairs were needed?

  1. Sorry, but everything is a pain in Italy.  I just got back from living there for 2 years.  You definitely want a small car,  but you will have issues with the parts, but that is common with all cars (unless they are smart cars, fiats, or puntos.)  Don't bring a car that you want to stay prisitine-the roads are very narrow and it will most likely get a scrape or two.  I don't mean to be negative...there are good things about Italy too, I hope you have a great tour!

  2. Hi Mary!

In my opinion, yes you should!

  3. You definitely should bring your car to Italy, especially if you live in Vicenza. Vicenza is a small town just outside of Venice and not too far from Verona. Lake Garda and the Dolomite mountains are just at our doorstep and you will be glad having a car.

As you will not live in the city a large car will be perfectly fine.

VW is largely distributed in Italy and there are official dealers in both Vicenza and Thiene (just a few KMs from Vicenza) ...

    You will love Italy!
