Question:

Should we build a nuclear power plant on the US/Mexican Border?

Since most agree we need to beef up border security anyway, would this not be a better use of public money ( providing both additional energy as well as upgrading border security ) than building a fence and funding troops to sit around on top of it staring across the sand doing nothing?

  1. Great suggestion - I think we should put about 20 of them on the border.

  2. For what reason? And who would be accountable?

Government funding does not come from a common pool of money. It is allocated by congressional budget - sometimes years before its used - depending on need and request by each department's overseer.

  3. There is another thing which may work Computer made money designed by both Mexican and American citizens to fund repairs of the ecology in Mexico and The U.S.  This provides the funds to build what required and removes exploitation of workers plus improving both places and security as then everyone has enough cash . Also then people can set up their own buisnesses and never work for anyone else again. Of course Community Futures measures can help out with this but the other might also

  4. Ah....no

  5. You would never site a nuclear-powered electric plant on an International boundary line because of jurisdictional issues like- waste disposal, operational control, & catastrophic responsibiity , are resolved. Even if both sides agreed to share the power from the plant, it s doubtful two sovereign governments would agree to anything that complicated! Just look at storage of spent fuel at Yucca mountain.  Immigration & control over borders is a separate issue.  Good Q, but only if you had informational intensions or risk awareness behind your asking it! The overlaying of immigration--well you know  by now was silly and unreasonable. Despite my latter criticism yours was still a good Q! It stimulated clarifying thoughts.
