  1. I cannot believe this woman reached 70 years of age and thinks she had to go through with this for the sake of her husbands pride.

I know what mine would be told.

And to go on and feel that the baby girl will be a burden!!!  Instead of feeling guilty over bringing her into a culture that will make her believe she is worthless except when she brings pride to some man she will be given to when she is old enough.

It is not all the woman's fault, it is what she was brought up to believe was her lot in life.

It shows just how little her self-centred husband and family think of her to let her risk her life like this.

What would any of you tell your father or grandfather if he insisted your mother or grandmother went through this?

By the way I am not a raving womens lib supported, but this is almost enough to make me one.

  2. burden? she took out a loan to get a fertility treatment! and she's 70! she has plenty of children, so she deserves not a lot of sympathy because she had other children and grandchildren to love but she wanted more. whats the point? 70 years old! its not like the earth already has 6 billion people!

  3. No sympathy for her- It`s the kids I feel sorry for

  4. This is a typical example of East meets West - judging from the answers so far, they clearly do not understand the dynamics of Hindu religion, sad as it may seem this woman does see her daugher as a burden, simply because females do not inherit - end of, so given the chance (albeit being the cost of selling everything of importance to you) of bearing a child at 70 in the hope of the child being male so that their smallholding will remain within the family, now, in the western world we are much more insular and independent, we do not assume that our children will automatically raise their siblings without question upon our demise, whereas in India this is a fact and way of life.

In answer, you have to understand the culture, history and way of life before you can judge.  Oh, and yes, I do sympathise.

Before you ask, I am not Indian, I am Irish

  5. Sympathy is best given to those who truly deserve it.

  6. NO. That is just stupid no honor or anything other than a misguided couple of people being selfish in the extreme.

  7. I don't feel any sympathy at all. I have 3 girls and I would gladly have another. This family didn't have much to leave behind, why couldn't they just leave it to the daughters. It doesn't make any sense.

  8. ewe ewe ewe ewe that shud be f*cking illegal

  9. at 70 i am sure i will be happy to be a grandma or even a great grandma

i had all my children in my twenties when i was young and healthy enough to care for them

    ivf at 70 is weird

  10. why?? she chose to have those children.i think it is so so wrong at that age for starters, secondly they are broke relying on handouts already and there only just born.i feel sorry for the twins being brought into this world and both could loose both their parents soon due to old age,a brave lady for going through pregnancy mind you especially at that age.but i  do not feel sorry for her and her burden its her own fault

i forgot to mention that poor little girl she never asked to be brought into this world she deserves a lovng family who wants a baby despite what s*x

  11. the poor babies:( i feel so sorry for them, not something you read everyday

  12. She is so selfish what a cruel mother!

I'd be SO proud -well that' India for you, treat their sons like kings treat daughters like animals or garbage!

  13. Well, I look at it this way, she'll die soon.

Then maybe the little girl will get the love she needs.

No, I feel no sympathy. What a *****.

  14. It will the parents that end being the burden, this is the most backward-assed thing I have ever read. I understand custom but only in a natural sense this is far from toeing the line, this is a flat out ridiculous disgrace. I would denounce my "Heirship" when it came to these people.

  15. It's bad enough when a 35 or 40 year old women has a baby but 70 is not good.Women are over the hill at 30 and they have had more than one kid.Thank you.

  16. Completely irresponsible...people like her are insane
