Besides, I would like to know what brand is the best ? How much zoom should I look for? How much should we pay for a camcorder that is used for family activities?

Any more suggestion will be welcome.

thanks alot

  1. Go with DVD. I used to really think hard drive would be best, and I convinced someone to get one once, and he was very disappointed and returned the camcorder. DVD is also really easy, you don't even need a computer! Just take out the DVD, put it in a DVD player and it's good. It's really handy to show a crowd, or just some of your friends or family what you've filmed so far. This camera here

is a great DVD camcorder. It's High Definition, so the video is amazing, the zoom is powerful, and very cheap for something of it's class.

  2. i use to sell camcorder's and camreas at circuit city and most of my customer liked the hard-drive ones better. the reason is that when you have a dvd cam-corder you only have limited amout of space on a dvd. they got tired of haveing to have use multi disc for one event so they just bought the hard-drive cam-corder. you can always use SD cards if you run out of space on those too... btw sony hard drive camcorders are really good

  3. i agree with the guy above me, go with the sony hardrive camcorder, its sick
