Should we get our son a toddler bed or twin bed? He is 15 months old.?

Our son is ready for a new bed. The crib and mattress that we have now is borrowed and going back, so we won't have it any longer. So if we buy him a toddler bed we will also need to buy a new mattress. Toddler beds and mattresses are cheaper but he obviously won't use it as long. I think a toddler bed would be safer though. Unless anyone knows where you can find a low to the ground twin bed with removable sides. Also buying a mattress for a toddler bed won't be that bad because we will be able to use it in the future for another baby. Any advice or ideas on what anyone else did would be great.

  1. Just buy a regular bed.  If you are worried about him falling out, you can just put the mattress on the floor, or buy a rail.

  2. We got our son a twin bed when he was done with his crib, and we had a lot of problems keeping him in bed.  My daughter is about to turn 2 and we need to get her out of her crib.  This time we're going with a toddler bed.  I think it's an easier transition for them.  Also a good idea for you since your son is only 15 months old.

  3. i took my children from the crib to a twin bed..it worked out great, But i did not put the bed on a frame, they just slept on the boxspring and mattress so it wasnt to high

  4. You can either go with a twin bed and buy a safety railing for the side or place the mattress on the floor for a few months.

  5. My daughter is 22 months and we decided to get her a toddler bed. We were only going to do so if we are able to find one for resale and we got hers for $15, we already had the mattress so that was a plus, we decided to get a toddler bed because it was safer for her. She is able to get herself in and out of bed as needed. There are twin beds out there that are low to the ground but not as low as the toddler beds. I would say if able go with a toddler bed.

  6. A toddler bed is a much better choice, for safety and for everyone's good night sleep. Your son will be much happier with a toddler bed, because the jump from a crib to a twin bed is too far. A crib to a toddler bed isn't too much of a jump. Train him into his toddler bed, and then buy a twin bed.

  7. In all honesty, we bouth a toddler bed for my 2 yr old and she didnt even like it. She was scared of it for some reason. So what we did was take our "full size" bed from our guest room and give it to her. She loved it, i never worried about a side bar because she always slept next to the wall (put it against a wall by the way), she is a wild sleeper to ( all over the place) and we have yet to have her fall off the bed. If you want you can put the mattress on the floor so you wont worry so much. If you get a twn it may be a bit different b/c its smaller and she could fall off it not on floor. Anyways, i think toddler beds are a waste because they dont stay in them long at all. So them your gonna go back out and buy a twin or full or whatever sooner than later so why not save yourself the trouble. However, if you could find one at a garage sale, that would definatly be a plus! Dont forget to check out the clearence store you never know what you can find for cheap cheap! Good luck!

  8. We already had a full size bed when our son was ready to transition.  We put the mattress and boxspring on the floor instead of on a frame and set the bed up longways so there was more room for him to roll around and not fall off (even if he did, he wouldn't have fallen far.  Our daughter went straight to a regular bed too except her's was on a frame, was a daybed and we used a guard rail.  If there is an ikea near you, they have some expandable beds and can be used without a boxspring which makes them lower to the ground like a toddler bed.

  9. Get him a toddler bed.

  10. all my babies go in a bed at 15 months

i get a regular bed and a child safety bar to prevent them falling out. if u cannot afford one id say put a cot matress or couch seats down until he gets used to the bed.

all my babies were fine and loved being a big boy or girl

get a special pillow for being a BIG boy and a pillow case of his colour choice. just a cheap brand and it makes them feel like they own it.

wave goodbye to the BABY bed and have a lil celebration, like a cake and some juice and go yay hes a big boy now

sorry sounds corny but its fun

  11. I think its safer to get a toddler bed so they dont fall off the twin bed and get hurt.

  12. I say a twin bed. I personally think toddler beds are a waste of money. They dont last very long, and soon after you have to get a twin bed that will last him for years. It will also save you a mattress, and bed sheets just to go with a twin rather than toddler than twin. And for safety you can get a bed rail- that is what I did with my girls.
