My bf & I have purchased my parents home with mortage and all. My parents are now renting my home, helping our repayments until my bf & I get married then they move out and we'll have the place to ourselves. Should we still have a housewarming party to celebrate our home ownership? or is that too tacky..coz we aint moving in together yet?

  1. I don't think it's too tacky. In fact, I think it's a great idea.

Although it's not really a new house to you, it's still a huge part of adulthood -- purchasing your very own home!!

Celebrate! You should be proud of yourself.

  2. To me, house warming parties are just a greedy way to get gifts. Wait until it's all yours, and just have a PARTY.

  3. I think a housewarming is a wonderful idea. It's really up to you to have it now or when you move in. I think if you are comfortable with the way the house is now then by all means have a party. The whole point of a housewarming is to have those closest to you over to see your new place. It's a right of passage in a sense. Friends and family will be proud of you and want to see what you have accomplished.

  5. If it were me, I would wait until I am moved into the house on my own.  Then the party really is about you and your new hubby starting your life together in your new home.  You and your friends can celebrate your marriage AND the new house.  What a party!  :)

This gives you time to re-decorate, if you want, and to show off your updates at the party.
