  1. The purpose of homework is to for the student to learn what the teacher could not teach in a crowded classroom.

This is not an issue for homeschoolers.

Many people think it does not work well for kids in school either. Check out this link: http://thecaseagainsthomework.com/

  2. There def should  be homework, that will help kids to practise more even when they are at home and also it involves parents in it .so I think yep we should have homeworks!!

  3. you should have homework or else you would have to spend longer at school.

which would you perfer, doing work at school or at home??

  4. This is the homeschool section. It is all homework.

  5. I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking if homeschoolers should have homework? That question doesnt make sense to me. All work homeschoolers have is at home. Unless they choose to do it in the library or somewhere else, but same difference.

If you are asking if public school kids should have homework, i'll give you a resounding NO! Homework is the biggest crime against parents and kids by the school system. The kids sit at a desk in school for all those hours, and when they come home, they should be spending quality time with their parents and siblings. For parents to be forced into the position of having to be in charge of making sure their kids do their homework, is not what anyone calls quality time. If the schools cant manage to teach kids all they have to learn durring all those school hours and days, and have to give them more work to do at home, something is wrong.

    Down With Homework!

  6. Get rid of homework and save trees! :-D

  7. NO!

i am a student and just no

I think that there should be no homework. We already have to go to school for 7 hours a day. We should not have to take any work home. Most kids have after school sports or activities they have to attend. Most kids do have and average bed time of 9 O’ clock. That would give them about 5 hours a day when they get home, not including sports and after school activities.

  8. if kids in public school (and private schools) would stop goofing off they will not need homework and the school day would not be extended every couple of years.

  9. I believe that the only school work that should be done at home should be studying and special projects (such as a book report or science fair project), or work that is sent home because it was not completed in class.

I do NOT believe that homework should be given 'just because'.  Children already spend 7+ hours a day at school.  There is no quality family time in the mornings, because there is the rush to be up, fed and dressed and out the door by a certain time.  There is very little quality time in the evenings, becuase of the rush to be fed, bathed and in bed in time to get up and do it all again the next day.  Homework takes away what little free time children have.

The problem gets worse as the students get older and have individual teachers instead of one.  Each teacher assigns homework without regards to how much the other teachers are assigning.  It is bad for their health-i.e. lack of sleep, lack of time for physical activity, eating and drinking "quick" things or things that offer caffeine to help them stay awake.

  10. yes, there should be homework...that's how you know if you've learned what was taught and can apply to actually problems

  11. Since you did post this question in the homeschooling section, I'm going to let one of the bees in my bonnet out to buzz around a bit.  Obscene amounts of homework were a definite contributing factor to our decision to homeschool.  I didn't think it was fair for my kids to spend seven hours at school, then come home and spend another two to four hours working, at night. I was disgusted by the fact that my kids did practically nothing during school, then had to come home and learn it themselves, in what should have been their free time. We're always telling people not to "bring the office home with them"  but we're training them to do it, as children.  Education is very important to us, but I don't believe it should be all encompassing.  I want my kids to have time to be kids and to pursue the things they are passionate about.  They are usually finished their schooling by lunch time, so they can spend their afternoons doing the things they love, such as horses, motocross, mountain biking and carpentry.  Because there is no homework, the evenings and weekends are completely freed up to do what they want.  They do assignments and have deadlines, they just do them during our schooling hours.

  12. i think we should and this is comming from a student that dosent like homework

  13. yes, homework is important

    it teaches responsibility and self-discipline
