He also wanted the car manufactures to raise the effeicency of their miles per gallon per auto.

Every one made funof him, but, if we listened to him, we wouldn't be this mess.

  1. Raising the miles per gallon was a good idea but I'm a punk and I love to drive fast so I don't listen to the speed limits as it is. I'd probably be even more in violation of the law if the speed limits were lower.

  2. We did.  That's why the speed limit was 55 mph for all those years.

  3. That was a great thing we would have inherited, but we disagreed, but if we did, the roads will be more save, and our cars would not be in the gas stations 2-3 times a week.

  4. we used to be 55 for years now the cars that the drive today are getting a lot more MPG them before .I've seen some slowdown already on the big highways

  5. Are you not aware that the speed limit was lowered to 55 in the 70's?  Why speculate about a solution that has already been tried.  Go find out how it worked.

  6. You just named 2 things,wow

Those 2 things are nothing compared to the disastrous times we had during his Presidency

  8. Nope, I like driving 70 on the highway.  And news flash:  driving 55 miles per hour and having efficient cars would not get us out of "this mess."

  9. Jimmy did far more harm than good while in office.

  10. we did.we raised efficancy beyond the levels carter wanted .we lowered speed limits.and we betrayed our ally taiwan.no wait we didn't just carter did that

  11. I like 55. Its the max speed on an old Army Deuce and a Half. Then people wouldn't honk and flip me off!

  12. you ought to listen to him. even better than driving 55, just walk. Jimmy Carter knows everything.
