Should we have to get a license to produce children?

You have to have a license to practice medicine.

You have to have a license to drive a car.

You have to have a license to fish.

But absolutely anyone, regardless of stupidity, irresponsibility, or integrity, can breed and have kids. Does that make sense?

Of course not. That would deprive us of human rights, its our free will to be able to procreate and create a family.

Besides, we don't even know if stupidity runs in genes or if its a result of bad parenting. If its bad parenting, we can probably fix it by having better schools / foster parents, but saying to people "You can't have kids just because you are stupid or retarded" will probably cause a lot of controversy.

I think that people who find out that they are pregnant should have some pre-birth parental training, financial training and be tested for drugs and alcohol. This would help prevent people from becoming irresponsible parents and thos who are abusing drugs and alcohol could be given a chance to change themselves for the good of their child and themselves. There really wouldnt be a way to get a license unless we are going to start pre-qualifying girls as soon as they get their periods and they don't have jobs or anything yet.

Is there a reason why you are so angry? Not everyone plans to have a baby so what do you think should happen to the people who have an unplanned pregnancy? Should they be fined or thrown in jail?

I agree, there are some people out there that should not be allowed to have children but does that make everyone else bad?

No I don't believe would should. those other licenses are so the states and government can get money. If we start having to get permits or licenses to have a child then we will lose our free will.

Haha!  In theory, yes, I think people should need a license to have children.  Any parents looking to adopt children have to meet strict standards and guidelines which are in place to ensure the well being of the children that are coming into that family.  It seems a bit not right that parents have to prove their abilities to be parents when they want to adopt children, but they can give birth to as many as they want, regardless of ability to care for them.

Practically, no, there is no real way that this could be done, but it is a good idea.

I don't agree with licensing parents because the government shouldn't have a say so on who can have children.  They would be going with those that are rich or those with "power" or they would just go requiring that you be in the military first....really giving them control would be a horrible idea.  I am not rich and to some they may see me as not being in a position to have children but I am a good mom and my kids come first but just because i don't have a lot of money and rent off my mom and stepdad people say I shouldn't have children, I am glad that having kids is my decision and nobody elses.  I mean seriously if you were to be the one judging who could have kids what requirements would you be looking for?

well not the doc one maybe, but how many retards can drive a car bc they have a licence and really not even everyone has one. and fishing its not like u pass a test for that. i understand what ur trying to say but, one how do u regulate that, um u dont. and two all kinds of stupid people regardless of anything have drivers licenses and can go fish, so ur argument, not so good...sorry
