People picked at random from the electoral register, who serve for a year. Big decisions are put to referendum for the whole population to decide

No more politicians, much less of a problem?

Thoughts and suggestions please

  1. Sounds like a good idea in theory hun ... but the one major  flaw in the plan... is that the politicians would have to vote themselves out of a job .... think about it ....  they would have to pass that law in the first place  through the house of commons .. it ain`t never gonna happen ...!!   x

  2. In an ideal world that is a brilliant idea, unfortunately in this world alls that would happen is ordinary people will be put in a position of power to make decisions that are worth a lot of money to the people involved, so they'll throw money at the elected politicians who'll be a lot more corruptable than the politicians we have now because they need the money more and afterall who cares about 1 poxy decision? I agree that all "big" decisions, like going to war, should go to a referendum. in fact that should be the case now and more people should be pushing for their say in this countries and this worlds big decisions.

I love the idea though, if it was more practical i'd push for it in a heartbeat.

  3. People brought on kicking and screaming for jury service would pay lip service and might dish out to the crème of the crème.

Referendums are a good idea.......but might not bring on the best results long term for the people or nations at large. People............are people : society is made up of more or less educated, open-minded , conservative etc individuals. To be popular : follow the masses (referendum) but the masses are not always right either....A vote/decision might be unpopular short term and prove beneficial long term and vice versa.

A question of "d**n if you do and d**n if you don't. Tricky.

    Oh...bring on the t-chats ..

Too complicated for me to answer now...........:-)
