    yes we can head into another ice age if:

    we use biofuels

    we cut down on the use of large sized trucks(hummers+)

    we stop eating meat (methane=greenhouse gas)

    we plant more trees

    stop the improper dumping of hazardous waste

    etc.

    There is evidence that the cycle is turning back to cooler.

  5. Global Warming is not a man-made event and as such, we cannot stop it. Mankind has certianly contributed to it, and perhaps even accelerated it a little bit, but we did not start it.

    As for whether we should stop our contributions to it or not, I'm torn. On one hand, eventually things will get so that our planet will no longer support mankind as we choose to exist now.  On the other, that will not happen in my lifetime or likely my child's lifetime (when I have any) so...

    Any actions we take now to stop our contribution to global warming will have to be very large and universal. They will require sacrifice from generations of people that are not known for their altruism and are known to go to great lengths to secure their way of life.

    I think the better question is "Can we stop contributing to Global Warming?" Realistically... we can... but we won't.

  8. yes, our society depends on the earth having a relatively stable temperature. without stable temperatures we wont be able to grow as much food around the world and water shortages will also be a problem.
