When I look at the law i think hmm... 16 = own home, 17 = can drive, 18 = can drink. This has proven to be a recipe for disaster as in the symbol of the UK in the world is the pregnant teen and drunk driving/teenage drunk gangs are rife. The drinking thing I'm not cool with, we all know what teenies are like for showing off and expressing the new freedom but its cost so many lives and can ruin u at a crucial time in life i.e. university/college/first job etc... I think it should be raised to 21 so they have a few years behind them BEFORE hitting the boose.

  1. I think we should raise the minimum age for masturbation to 25.

  2. Disagree.  It is time to reduce the legal age for most things to 18.  If you can have s*x, have a family, be treated as a dult wrt ccrimes and kill people in the Army, you should be allowed to have a drink.  One of the great things about the US is self responsibility.  Time to acknowledge that if we treat 18 as the start of adulthood for some thinks, it should be for everything.

  3. You are absolutely right! I am almost 25, so I remember being a teenager. But unfortunately, raising the age limit doesn't keep them from doing drugs or drinking, tho it does seem to help a little. I think the main problem these days is parenting.

  4. The UK is one of the few European countries with a binge drinking and underage drinking problem. Raising the age won't help because many teenagers can get alcohol anyways.. Changing the culture around drinking would really help stop experimental drinking around teens.

  5. There's a slight problem...As much as I agree with you, no matter how high we raise it, people will still drink...They began drinking underage, and it won't stop them if they're just a little MORE underage.

  6. Well, to be effective, you'd have to raise the age limit to 25 - that's when the judgement centers in the brain become fully formed for most people ( and the fact that they aren't formed is the cause of most problems)

The kids would riot in the streets if you tried to raise the age of permission up to 9 years - that's FOREVER to them.

So I think we're stuck with them.
